Gamespot fires Editorial director over bad review LOL

He got fired because of this video review:

Well that's it, I wont be using GS for my reviews anymore. Sell outs, complete disgrace.

Lol, I hardly used GS anyways because their reviews were always terrible and gave negatives for stupid things.

Jeff was fine, he was a funny guy and he gave honest reviews.

Now GS has proven they'll happily fire people for writing the truth when it upsets there sponsors, well, i don't know what there expecting because there not going to have any sort of credibility anymore.

Yeah, that definitely lowered their credibility by a lot.

And what I was saying that I didn't usually agree with their reviews. Jeff wasn't stupid or anything and he was funny, I just think some things were rated to harshly for small things. Like for example, Gh3 was given an 8/10. The negatives listed in the review were, "Expert mode is too hard", "Battle mode is boring", "Too much in game advertising". I don't agree with that because, expert mode is meant to be a challenge, battle mode is insanely fun and I bet not any other view says otherwise, and in game advertising was at a minimal, you really had to look for it and how does it really affect gameplay anyways. Thats just what I was saying when I said I didn't really agree with them sometimes.

What you have said I can compare to what GS said. You both have your own opinions.

Its the same with what games we play, what movies we watch and what music we listen to. Its a matter of opinion of whether you like it or not. Getting one person to review a game they didn't really like isn't very good because they're going to give it low ratings just because he doesn't like the game genre. You need either a lover of a genre and someone who doesnt like it much, or a bias judge. And even that doesn't suit everyones fancy.

A game reviewer is supposed to play, analyze and make a fair judgment on a video game.

There supposed to point out the good and bad and make a fair assessment. Watch the youtube video, he did just that. He did his job and nothing more.

Obviously CNET is now denieing it it'd be fairly stupid for them to admit to it but the review he wrote got tweaked, the video got pulled, Eidos had a TON of advertising going on and Eidos was extremely angry and threatened to pull sponsorship.

Now oddly, at the exact same time this is going on, the dude who wrote the review got fired! XD

O i wonder why.

I've heard elsewhere that it was a bad game, and I usually agree with a good number of GS reviews. The problem is that Eidos was GS's main advertiser, so they are probably pushed to make good reviews of Eidos games. In order to keep their largest customer, they had to fire him. It's kinda simple... but nonetheless, GS are money******.
