If you installed it the way I've talked about in my posts, and you followed what it said in the Wiki, I'm not sure what went wrong.

Just a reminder, you need a PURCHASED Source based game; a free game such as the promotional HL2:DM or Portal won't work.

Yup!
Although my friend found this thing, and he'll try it with me, I'll still see if it works, if not, then...
Ah, well.

Are you sure that you don't just need the SDK and SDK base? That's all most things require. And HL2:DM should work, as it's still considered a full Source game.

You don't get the SDK when you get the promotional HL2:DM. If you purchased it, then yes, it would work. If you did not purchase it, then no, you won't be able to use that as the Source game.

I'm pretty sure you can just download the SDK from the tools section whenever, but I may be wrong.

There's 3 different SDK packages that are available.

I'm guessing that the one you need is from the Orange Box since that's the only one I've got installed currently, and you can't get that for free. You just need a game that came out in the same generation of the Orange Box (HL2, TF2, CSS, any HL2 episode, the paid version of HL2:DM, etc) and you'll be set. The other downloads are for the production of other games that third parties can use if they wish to make a mod, or entirely new game based off of the Source engine.

Hopefully tomorrow my CSS:GG will work. Dunno why it wasn't working last CSS:GG event, so hopefully it'll work this time.

We're temporarily closed until further notice. This will allow other EC members to decide on new activities.. Since we've been fairly successful, and we've got variety, I'd like to keep the event going.

That being said, is there anything any of you would like to change? Keep in mind, if you suggest games, we need to be able to control the server. The server would also have to be run on a Linux server. Our choices for games are currently limited to Source based games for a reason. They work great for things like this.

We recently added GoldenEye: Source, so I'm not sure if we'd want to add any more games at this time. Just throwing the option out.

Yeah, just kidding.

Since it's a new year, and many people's school schedules have changed (Woot!), is anyone up for a time/day change?

For alternative day/time:
- Mondays 7-9pm Eastern (4-6PM PST, 6-8PM CST, 7-9PM EST, 12-2AM UTC/England)
- Wednesdays 7-9pm Eastern (4-6PM PST, 6-8PM CST, 7-9PM EST, 12-2AM UTC/England)
- Thursdays same time, possibly an hour earlier (5-6PM PST, 7-8PM CST, 8-9PM EST, 1-2AM UTC/England)

I'd like to come up with a final idea by the time the next gaming period runs around (Jan 21st), which should be after all classes / exams have been scheduled for everyone. I'll try to put this, and any other time suggestions into a poll format sometime after the 21st so that the following gaming event can be (potentially) at a new time/day.

I'd prefer Mondays (Mays Mondays anyone? :D ) as I have evening classes on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, which pretty much cancels the rest out. :(

I would start going if it was at 7PM eastern, doesn't matter what day.

I'm fine with the current timing, but the current time on any day would be fine.

I can rarely come on Wednesdays because a piano lesson overlaps. Mondays or Thursdays would be nicer, but it would be ideal if we had a weekend date. I still don't get why we don't have one, considering that many more people are likely to be free and therefore participate.
