This table illustrates how players of different means can maximize the damage they do in melee combat.

Diety: One who can afford and wear anything and everything.
Expert: One who has been playing for years and can afford much.
Average: One who is fairly new and mostly has a budget of less than 1 million gp.
Free world: Because I'd be biased to P2P without this.

pretty helpful, but I don't get why you would replace a strength ammy with a fury, or a bandos chest with a torso, etc. since str ammy gives better bonus, and chest only gives better def. this thread is supposed to be maxing your melee damage... not looking cool by showing off your money :P this is what I wear for maxing damage:

Helm- Neitiznotz helm
Torso- Fighter Torso
Legs- Rune platelegs+
Shield- Rune defender

Amulet- Strength amulet
Cape- Legends
Gloves- Barrows
Boots- Dragon

Weapon- Abyssal whip

Yes, Frozen Fury is right, an amulet of Strength would add 2 more str bonus.

Also, if you're going for damage then you would want either a Dragon Two-hander(+93), Dragon Halberd(+89), or a Dragon Battleaxe(+85, +89 with a Rune Defender) for the Expert list (An Abyssal whip is only +82 or +86 with a Rune Defender).

Unfortunately Jagex hasn't fixed the accuracy bug yet, and so the Whip is more accurate even though its Attack bonus is less then the Two-hander or the Halberd.

The Maximum hit weapon for an Average would be either the Dragon Battleaxe(+85, +89 with a Rune Defender), or the Dragon Longsword(+71, +75 with a Rune Defender), or even the Granite Maul(+79) if you're going for str bonus in a cheap weapon.

The best gloves for an Average would be either Dragon Gauntlets(+3) from FoG or the best RFD gloves you can get.

The best shield for a Free World would be a Rune Berserker shield(+4) from FoG.
The best Free World Gloves would be Rune Guantlets(+2) from FoG.
The best Free World weapon would be the Rune Two-hander(+70), which even beats a Rune Battleaxe(+64) with a Rune Berserker shield(+4).

Here's the Strength Bonuses with these new items:
Diety: +176
Expert: +137
Average: +107(may be slightly higher depending on which RFD gloves they wear)
Free World: +82

You did a good job, however since you wanted maximum hits I went and looked up the best str bonus items, regardless of popularity.

When i was training Strength to get it to 76 like my other stats i wore the Helm of Neitiznots, Amulet of Strength, Quest Point Skillcape, Dragon Simitar, Fighter Torso, Rune Defender, Dragon Platelegs, Barrows Gloves, Dragon Boots and ring of wealth if i remember, I forget the strength bonus but it was close to 100-110.

This helps a lot. Once I get enough money, I'm going to try and get what's in the "Diety" category.

for the most part it is good, but average would want a plate body and legs over other stuff as it gives the bigist bonus ... btw iron rank ftw:) Image Image

Nah, best strength setup for those rich peoples:

Full Vesta, Statius Warhammer, Dragonfire shield, Ammulet of strength, beserker ring (i), barrow gloves and completionst cape. (or swap ags)

But highest strength bonus weapon is the primal maul!

Full dharok with 100 constitution, on 1 lp overloads and stuff, max is 1232
