This is a great way of getting material for glassmaking.
Requirements:
Must have started Recepie of disaster, and be able to dive in Port Khazard
K here goes:
Head over to Port Khazard, wearing your diving stuff. You do not need anything else with you.
Ask fisherman to dive, and then swim over to the first kelp you see. You can pick them and they will never drain like eg. flax. When your inventory is full, swim back to anchor, and when you get to shore you have 2 choises.
1. Just bank the kelp and cook it later. There is a bank deposit box right next to the peer.
2. Use fire on docks there to make soda ash at once before you bank.
Only bad thing about kelp, is you can not use lunar spell on it like you can with seaweed.
