Prince Ali Rescue

Prince Ali of Al Kharid has been kidnapped by the scheming Lady Keli. You are hired to stage a rescue mission.

Requirements: None.
Items Needed: All of these items are obtainable in part one of this quest guide.
About 100gp which will cover various items needed and passing through the gate to/from Al Kharid, ash, soft clay, bucket of water, flour, redberries, yellow dye, wig, pink skirt, bronze bar, rope, 3 beers.
For part one of the quest guide (collecting the items) you will need a pickaxe of any type.
NPCs: Hassan, Osman, Leela, Lady Keli, Joe (guard), Prince Ali, Aggie, Ned.
Difficulty: Novice.
Length: Long (30-45 mins, shorter if you already have items).
Reward: 3 quest points, 700 coins, and you become a friend of Al Kharid. This lets you pass through the gate to Al Kharid for free - you no longer have to pay the toll of 10gp each time.

Start Point: Speak to Hassan in Al Kharid palace.

If you can't find your way at any point in this quest, you can refer to this map to see where you need to be going.

Part One: Items
If you already have the items needed for this quest you can skip ahead to part two of the guide, otherwise most items will be covered in this section and the rest will be covered during the quest (part two).

  1. Start off at Lumbridge, just outside the castle. If you're not there already you can quickly do a Home teleport to get back there. Head north of the castle to the general store. Buy yourself a pot, two buckets, a tinderbox and some shears. Without a doubt there will also be many logs in store, so buy a log - it doesn't matter what kind it is as long as you have the firemaking level to burn it.

    Image

Light a fire from the logs you bought and wait for it to finish burning. When it's gone out, pick up the ashes. In my case, I found someone else who was burning logs to get their firemaking level up, and just grabbed some of their ashes.

    Image
  2. Go north of the general store a bit to get to a field of sheep. Use your shears on the sheep there until you have 3 lots of wool - you'll need to shear three different sheep because they lose their wool once you shear them.

    Image
  3. Go back inside Lumbridge castle and climb the south stairs to the second floor (or first floor if you consider what you were on as the ground floor). Walk into the room with the spinning wheel and spin your wool into balls.

    Image
  4. Next, make your way to Varrock. Go east across one of the bridges near Lumbridge and north, following the road, until you get to where the road splits east and west. Instead of following the road, go straight north and around the fenceline until you see the mine. Go into the mine and use your trusty pickaxe to mine some copper and tin. We'll go somewhere later for clay.

    Image
  5. Out of the mine now, and we'll go west a tiny bit to where the redberries are. Look around for some bushes and eventually you'll be able to find some. You might have to wait for them to respawn, but when they do, pick some... As you can see it took me a while to find them even with the help of Kelsey.

    Image

    Image
  6. Make your way west and ensure you stay as far away from the Dark Wizards as possible. The level 20's can hit hard and accurately, so you might want to run past them. When you get to the road, go north and into Varrock, then east into the inn when you see it on the minimap. Buy three beers from the bartender for 2 coins each. Nothing special, just ordinary beer.

    Image

The image above looks different because I bought my beer from a different, less convenient inn.
  7. Now we'll go out of the inn and north to the clothes store. Here, trade Thessalia and buy a pink skirt for 2gp.

    Image
  8. Come out of the clothes store and go south, the way you came from. Once you're outside the city walls, go west until you find a mining spot. Here you can mine clay, so prospect rocks until you find it, and mine some.
  9. Time to go back now. Head south towards Lumbridge, but when you come to the split in the road, go east and then take a walk south through the desert. In this case it's faster than going around and using the toll gate, and you're also saving money! Find the furnace and smelt your copper and tin into a bronze bar.

    Image
  10. Now head towards the palace and find a fountain... Use a bucket on the fountain and the two buckets in your inventory will fill with water.

Use one bucket of water on your clay and it will make soft clay.

    Image

And that's it for almost all of the items. When you're ready, you're right in position to start the quest, where you'll get the rest of the items along the way.

Part Two: Rescue the Prince
    Image

  1. In the palace, locate Hassan and talk to him. Ask him if he needs help with anything and he'll give you an instant answer - you don't see that everyday! :o Hassan will tell you to speak with Osman, his spymaster.

    Image
  2. Go talk to Osman, just in front of the palace. Apparently you'll need to rescue Prince Ali from the cluthes of Lady Keli, and then he'll give you the two things you need to do; make a disguise for the prince to escape in, and get an imprint of the key to allow him to escape.

    Image
  3. Go through the Al Kharid toll gate (pay up the 10gp) and across a bridge towards Lumbridge. Make your way to Draynor Village (see the map for a little assistance) and then find Leela.

    Image

Leela will check to see what items you have and then tell you what you still need.
  4. Go north out of the village and then east at the crossroads. Follow the road until you come to a split and you'll be right in front of a field of wheat. Go into the field, pick some grain.

    Image
  5. Come out of the field and go north into the windmill.

    Image
  6. Go upstairs twice (to the top floor) and use your grain on the hopper. Operate the hopper to make the flour...

    Image

    Image

And go right back downstairs to collect it.

    Image
  7. Time to collect from onions from Fred the Farmer's onion patch, located south-east of the windmill, opposite the sheep paddock. It's not stealing, they'll grow back. 8-[
Anyway before you get too put off, grab two onions.

    Image
  8. Good show, now back to Draynor Village to pay visits to a couple of people... First we'll go see Aggie since we now have what we need for her.
Ask if she would be able to make you a skin paste... For this you'll need a base of water, flour and ash, and redberries for colour.

    Image

Then see about making a yellow dye. She'll be able to make this for you if you cough up 5gp and a couple of onions. Strangely enough, that's where the colour comes from.
  9. Time to find Ned. Ned will be able to sell you some rope and also make you a wig. He has a sense of humour too, read the conversation closely. :P

    Image

Anywho, buy some rope from him for 15gp, and then ask if he would be able to make other things, like for example, wigs. He'll be able to make you a wig if you give him 3 balls of wool.

Use your yellow dye on the wig and it will turn blonde, making your disguise complete.
  10. Find Lady Keli down by the jail and talk to her. This procedure must be followed delicately otherwise she will suspect you of being a spy.

    Image

Say that, of course you've heard of her - she's famous all over Runescape. Ask her latest plan, and then say that she must have been very skillful. Are they sure the prisoner will not be able to get out?
Finally, ask if you can see the key, and then if you can touch it just for a moment (so that you can get an imprint of it in the soft clay). This will be done without you having to do anything.
  11. Return to Al Kharid (pay the toll through the gate again) and speak to Osman. He'll take your key imprint and bronze bar, and tell you to pick up the key from Leela.

    Image
  12. Go right back to Draynor Village again and talk to Leela who will give you the cell key and wish you luck. You can also talk to her about how you plan to take care of the guard, in which case you will say you were planning to intoxicate him (get him drunk).

    Image

    Now for the break...
  13. Inside the jail, talk to Joe, the guard. Ask him if he would fancy a quick drink. After all, guards can't be thirsty on the job. Ask him if he wants another and you'll hand both drinks to him for later, but he'll drink them both and...

    Image

... Oh yeah. He's definitely not drunk yet. Perfectly fine.
  14. So now that Joe's taken care of, we can get down to business. Use your rope on Lady Keli. You will overpower her, manage to tie her up and throw her in a closet. Next, use your key on the cell door. You'll go through and meet Prince Ali. Hand him the disguise, he'll be forever in your debt, yadayadayada.
He looks pretty funny dressed up as Keli, but you have to give yourself a pat on the back for that disguise.

    Image

You're now a friend of Al Kharid, yay!
  15. Return to Hassan in Al Kharid to collect your reward. This time you can go through the gate without having to pay the toll, and you will never have to again!

    Image

Congratulations, Lady Keli was no match for you!

Ah, thanks for that.
Guide is finished now, I'll just edit the map later to include the new onion patch and the other mine near Varrock which I forgot about before.
