Friends Chat

    Official Friends Chat: BitsBytes
    Official RuneScape Worlds (F2P/P2P): 43/72

Please make sure you follow all Runescape rules in friends chat, we cannot control who reports you. Even joking about breaking runescape rules or giving out the URL to the site is a bad idea. The preferred staff method is to kick rather than report depending on severity of what was said, but we can not stop other users from reporting you.

    Rankings
    ImageGeneral - Site Owners
    ImageCaptain - Global Moderators
ImageLieutenant - Chat Moderators / Events Crew
ImageSergeant - Content Crew / Newspaper Staff
ImageCorporal - Rsbandb Donors / Current Month Competition Winners
    ImageRecruit - Dragon Members
    ImageFriend - Past Competition Winners

    Kick Power = Lieutenant+

Please report anyone being rude or breaking rules (most specifically flaming, or flame-baiting) in friends chat to a Chat Moderator or Events Crew member via PM on the forums with evidence (screenshots in PNG format; not jpeg). Punishments will be dealt with on the forums, with possible bans from friends chat.

If you get kicked and feel it was in the wrong, please send a pm to Mike or Shane with a screenshot explaining what happened and who was in the chat that had kick powers.

Don't ask for ranks, as they wont be given out unless you belong in one of the above groups. Do however PM Mike or Shane on the forums if you do belong to one of those groups and don't have the rank, as you may have been missed by mistake.

    A Note About "Clan Chat":
We realize many of you will have clans that you are already involved in. Thus, we are not mandating that you must join "Bits and Bytes" if you are a member of the forums or RuneWire. The "Bits and Bytes" RS clan that is set up is to serve the purpose of allowing those who are interested to have a clan they can use in game. The "Bits and Bytes" clan has no requirements to join or obligations once joined. The only benefit you will gain by joining "Bits and Bytes" is to appear on our roster and our highscores provided by Jagex.

Please note that even if you have joined "Bits and Bytes" we will still be using the Friends Chat system under the user, "BitsBytes".

Mumble (Voice Server)

We run a Mumble server. Mumble is a voice server similar to Teamspeak or Ventrillo. You can use it to talk to fellow RSBandB members while playing or browsing the forums. Mumble has clients for Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can download the client from mumble.sourceforge.net. Please note that the Windows client may take a while to start up, this is a known issue within the Mumble community.

In order to join the server you can click the link on the bottom of the main forum page. Our Mumble server uses your forum login to authenticate you. Please provide your forum password when asked.

If you want to connect manually:
    Server IP: 209.160.21.177
    Port: 64738
User: Your forum user (case sensitive)
Password: You will be asked for your password, same as your forum password.

Helping us out

When we are looking for people to help us out in any of the staff groups, we will post global announcements asking for applications. For some staff positions, we will personally ask people if they would like to help us out.

For any of these staff groups, please do not ask us to join them. Either we will come to you if we need your help, or you can keep an eye out for the announcements.

Things we value in our current and potential staff members are: respect towards others, helpfulness to the community, and a high activity level.
