I think this is a smart move on both parties. Nokia has been the number 1 phone company, with a leading OS, which is on the downfall. I imagine Nokia realized that if it dosent get a OS with a market, and other new age tools that Microsoft OS has to offer, they will be out of business in a few years. Microsoft is smart by doing this because if gives them more of a market than the Android or iPhone platforms, since Nokia is the international leading name is phones. (sorry if my writing is a bit confusing, I'm dosed up on cold meds :p) http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/02/ ... uild-windows-phones/ |

Nokia is actually able to build some very good phones. Their software was a bit less exciting, but the hardware was great. I know actually quite a lot people that have Nokia phones (and still use them) which are over 10 years old. Even one of them lost his phone outside in the winter and found it back in spring and it still worked liked a charm. I own a Samsung Omnia 7 and I can say I quite like the WP7 OS. I wonder how this will affect both companies. Spoiler for New Nokia Phones:

Yeah, I use Nokia for the longest time before I got my Android phone last year. (Tmobile use to have a ton of Nokia phones) My friend a few years ago had a old Nokia, the small rectangle ones, and he upgraded to a Moto Razer. So we ran over the Nokia with a car, and it STILL worked. ![]() Nice photos btw, I def want to get my hands on one. Hopefully they will be available with Tmobile, which I can assume they will be since Tmobile has always offered a lot of Nokia phones. |

Too little too late from Microsoft's camp. Microsoft needed to be here the season after the original iPhone launched if they wanted to have any lasting impact. From what I've heard the the WP7 OS will move slowly like other Microsoft things. At this point I see iOS as the leader with Android in second. Of course this could also bring WP7 to the masses which would hopefully force Microsoft to work faster at advancing the OS. Also I should note that if I was buying a phone now I'd limit my choice based on which OS the device ran. |
