Post subject:  HP Laptop!!!

Well, figuring that this is my first year in college, I should get a laptop. I do have a desktop, but this laptop is going to be strictly for portable word processing and internet (hopefully). I don't think I needed a laptop, but I noticed that everyone on my floor has a laptop and that I'm the only guy with a desktop. Next year, I might only bring the laptop, but this will be a trial term to find that out

I decided on the HP dv4t. Here are the specs on the one I just ordered.

HP Pavilion dv4t Entertainment PC
• Espresso Black
• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
• FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 2GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
• Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
• 14.1" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
• LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
• Webcam Only
• Intel Wireless-N Mini-card
• No TV Tuner w/remote control
• HP Color Matching Keyboard
• 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
• No Modem
• Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
• HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

This was all for a little over $650. I choose this one mainly cause I'm a big guy. I'm 6' 4", 215 lbs, and I have big hands. I had to have a full size keyboard and big screen, but also a laptop that was still light and portable. This was my top choice. The 13.1" dm3z was a close contender, but it looked too small. I figured an inch is an inch and to go with the dv4t instead. What do you guys think? Was this a good choice? I had only really looked closely at HP and not the other laptop makers. Could I have done better considering what I'm getting for the price?

I don't know how the prices work but I can say that, for your requirements, it's a good choice. You'll get more than enough performance out of it for word processing and internet, and from experience I know that a 14" screen makes it highly portable while at a pleasant, usable size. ;)
