That's hilarious Does anybody know why that would happen? Would it just be the lack of "brightness" his skin color has? |

Some guy said this: "I didn't know Tiger Woods designed software as well." I lol'd. That's actually pretty sad. I think that maybe if he was in some better light it would work more, but I dunno. |

Darker skin colors reflect less light so the camera could be having trouble for that reason. This blog may be worth checking out, it has a bit of an explanation by an HP employee. |

Heh. Give the lighting, I'm guessing that if he was in a better lit location, this wouldn't happen. |

Ah, Trekkie! I had to delete my post in Non-RS discussion 'cause I didn't realise you already posted this here! Here's what I wrote about it: " http://www.informationweek.com/news/har ... ?articleID=222002986 "The probe was prompted by a YouTube video in which a black man named Desi demonstrates the problem. The camera, which is designed to follow individuals' head movements, fails to track Desi as he moves in and out of the picture. . . . I'm going on the record and I'm saying it, Hewlett-Packard computers are racist". Wow. Well, alright, HP majorly screwed up by not testing their product on darker-skinned people but does that make them racist? I find it annoying how the word "racist" is being applied at situations that are, more often than not, not racist. It's an insult to the truly racist things that hve been done to black people in the past. And if we're going to go along the lines of conspiracy theories, what benefit would HP have by making a webcam that only tracks white people? There would be no benefit since a) there would be controversy which would cause money and time to be spent fixing the problem and b) less units would be sold." |

Whew...It's good that I'm white. I ordered an HP yesterday. If only I had seen this first. ![]() I think this is just one of those freak things. HP can probably fix it if it's legit, I think. Pretty ridiculous if it's true, but I still doubt it. Very hilarious, though. I loved it when he tries to come on the screen and it stops following her and doesn't move. ![]() |
