=( Do you guys have any tips to improve wireless connections? Like on the computer, I've done all I can off the computer and with the router. I'll add details if needed. |

You could potentially install DD-WRT on the router if it is a compatible model. From there you could crank up the output, and get a bit more out of it. For best results though, supposing you have external antennas, you can use something like the WindSurfer, or other model from Freeantennas.com. This allows you to direct all traffic from one antenna toward where your computer is. Surprisingly enough, it's quite effective if you only need the signal in one part of your house. |

Reset your router. Make sure there is no interference - move the router away from any wires or other electrical devices, and experiment with different places to put it. Also, do the same for your computer in relation to the router - if you have something blocking the signal you can get a real lousy connection. Anything metal or electrical in the way = bad, as a general rule of thumb. Be sure to be in range, or add a repeater (range depends on model). Update drivers for your wireless NIC. Make sure your router / NIC isn't overheating. Update router firmware. Experiment with different channels (in your router settings page). Check a wired connection, if that's bad too then you might want to replace your router. Extend, or replace the wireless antennae. That's everything off the top of my head. |

Make sure you have a filter on all your phone lines if you have DSL, and make sure the phone line going to the modem is 6ft+. As Paul said, you can buy external antennas and a rangebooster router. |
