Recently, for Today and yestorday, I've been really in trouble with my computer. It turns out I have a Win32:Parite-B@dll worm, says avast. It's currently making a lot of programs fail that is an .exe. So now, Avast has to look thorugh everyfile, slowly- looking for the infected .exe's.
Please, wish me luck.

Get Kaspersky, Avast won't help you worth crap.

Anyways, Parite-B is a worm, that infects every executable file on the system, and spreads through the internet and your network, without having to attach itself to any files.

In addition, it puts a rootkit on your system, and these are very tricky and tiresome to rid yourself of. Blacklight and Kaspersky is good for this.

You need this off quick. If you can't get this off in, oh, 2 days, reformat. You don't want anyone to have root access to your box for even a short amount of time.

So get Blacklight, run a scan, and see what you find.

Wow, dang. I've never had any MAJOR viruses or anything so I don't know what to say. Good luck getting rid of this stuff. I don't see why people want to put viruses on others.

The worst virus I ever got was "abebot" which is a rare and extremely hard to get rid of. I had to mess with Windows and the registry until I fixed it (2 days to fix)

I had to deal with this:
Quote:
* You see excesssive pop-up advertisements. Some unwanted software such as Abebot can bombard you with pop-up ads while you're on the Web and even when you're not on the Web. If you see pop-up ads that are coming from questionable websites, you may have Abebot or other types of spyware on your computer.
* Your Web browser has additional components that you did not recall downloading. Spyware may install Search toolbars or Internet browser toolbars that appear floating on your screen or within your Web browser without your knowledge. If you notice certain icons or tools that you don't remember adding yourself, you may have been infected with Abebot or other types of Spyware.
* Your settings have been changed without your knowledge. Some unwanted programs such as Abebot may change your default homepage or search page settings, which means that the default web page you selected or the page that appears when you search may have been switched to a page that you do not recognize. Even if you try to restore your settings, Abebot spyware may switch it back when you reboot your computer.
* Your computer is slower than usual. Abebot may use your computer's system resources to execute its malicious tasks. Abebot may use your memory, internet connection and your bandwidth to run itself. A sudden change on the speed of your computer can be a sign of being infected with Abebot or spyware.

Also Simmy, I wish you luck on removing your worm. Shouldn't be that hard if your tech smart but if your not I would say just reformat/system restore.

The worst virus I got was one that I didn't know how to get rid of. Like every time I clicked on something Kaspersky would say "Detected twinknds 321" or something like that. Eventually it caused the fearful "Blue screen of death".

Maybe you should reformat since chances are it's opened backdoors into your comp allowing other viruses to compromise your comp
