Not bad for a public WiFi spot. Burlington Telecom is one of the few ISPs in the country that offers gigabit internet to the house. Needless to say, even their free wifi hotspots are amazing.

fiber has come...... still slower than you folks in the states, i could go higher tier speeds but A holes here limit that bandwith at higher tiers.

There needs to be more push for 1:1 down and up, especially if I want to take anyone who says "back up all your crap to the cloud!" seriously.

sadly .... best speed they offer is 100Mb/s but those plains you need to pay about 100 or more per month and in some cases very limited data limits

We in New Zealand have finally joined the Internet! Associating with network engineers has its perks. This is our flat's new fibre \:D/

It used to be a similar story over the ditch here but I think we've actually done very well since our fibre rollout began. It opened up the playing field for a huge number of smaller ISPs who offer arguably more niche but impressive services, which I think has made us expect better of our traditional bigger ISPs. We started with base plans of 30/10, 50/20 and 100/50, but we've since had 200/20, 200/200 and 1000/20 plans released by various lines companies. The bigger ISPs only offer plans that are provided throughout the country by all lines companies, like the base ones I mentioned, whereas local ISPs are able to offer plans specific to certain lines companies (e.g. 1000/20). The plans will improve as time goes on and infrastructure allows, but from what I've heard they have a decent amount of capacity already. It's exciting. Now we just need a better connection to the rest of the world...

How does the third world country New Zealand have that and the USA, the Greatest Country in the World™, does not? :(
