How much longer do you all think windows XP will be sold pre-loaded on computers? Till Labor day? Longer? How much longer do you think windows XP full version will be sold in stores? |

Id say 1+ that XP will still be sold preloaded. Vista seems to still be getting a bad rap but who knows. |

How much longer do you think windows XP full version will be sold in stores? XP will probably be sold pre-loaded by Dell until Vista SP1 (as far as I know they're the only ones still doing it). The reason for this is many computer enthusiasts and expert users feel that service pack 1 is a way Vista will say to the world that it's ready for prime time. Now you can put me in this area. I'd be using Vista now if it wasn't for one tiny deal breaker: my mac can't print to the networked Windows Vista machine. This was after RTM. I'd say you'll still be able to find OEM verisons for quite sometime. It was not long ago I read an article about XP being "the OS that won't die." I'd say you'll be able to get it in through 2008 at least. |

Somewhere around January 30th 2008. I believe that's the day Microsoft will stop supplying manufacturers with XP licences. |

Are we taking bets...well Microsoft are heart breakers so I"m going to say February 14, 2008...or April 1, 2008 take you pick. No, I think there will be unsupported versions of XP running for a while. |

If you look at Windows XP from a stability standpoint, it has proved its worth many times. It has been around since 2001, so many companies have adopted it as the operating system that their network must function off of. I have heard what Shane has said in numerous instances, being that many people are waiting for SP1 to be released before they trust Vista as being a viable alternative to their trusted XP OS (Listen to the Windows Weekly podcast on the TWiT network; they'll keep you updated ![]() |
