Any of you guys here about what sony did to protect their lables? It's really sad, I saw on the news how much they were yelled at in court, it was funny. Then they had some guy from MIT talking about it all.. I guess they put spyware on their CD's if you ripped them to your computer. This exposed your personal information to sony. The settlement was pay everyone who had bought a sony CD is the last year $7.50, and give them "one" free song to download from their website. An invasion of privacy for $8? XD

Tell me what you guys think.

Isn't this against the Data Protection Act?

The way I see it, unless Sony tell you before you buy the CD that if you put it into your comp - you're personal information is going to be sent to them. It's illegal.

There's no way you can decline a terms and conditions stating that if you've already bought the CD, since most shops wont allow a refund if the product has been opened/used.

Well all I know is about the music, luckily I have no music from sony.. but for anyone that does, bring your PC to a technition right away, if it costs you money, file a law suit to sony. ;)
