Ok, we all know that Intel and AMD have a different way of telling the speed of there prossesors. Which one do you think is more accurent?? Intel or AMD. Please give a reson why... Personally even though I like AMD I think Intel's is right becaue it has a more based speed instead of AMD which is a new kind of speed that is now 100% accurent. AMD is awsome for gaming though. |

AMD > Intel. Dont argue. In terms of speed, i dont know the exact figures, but if you take the AMD number (like 3100+ or whatever), then its roughly equal to the MHz of a Intel processor. For example: AMD 3200 is about equal to Intel 3200MHz (or 3.2GHz) Ive no idea on exact figures, and dont quote me on this. In terms of accuracy, ive no idea, but id probably say AMD. Just ignore Intel. Intel processors are only good for a huge servers. Otherwise they're sucky, and should be ignored. |

Everyone does intel because it seems to be cheaper than AMD, but right now, My AMD is working alot better than my past Intels. ![]() |

I'm not sure which has the most accurate speeds but I think the AMD proccessors are the best. |

AMDs, price efficient and work better than Intels. |

One word to all AMD fanboys. No. I'm impartial and have to go with Intel here. Mostly becuase they are the new OC masters. They make a 2.66GHz CPU that can OC to 4.1GHz (stable) for $130. AMD lost the crown. |

"Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 533MHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core,EM64T Processor - Retail" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819116001 check out the info on newegg, its only good if you overclock it, however its original operating frequency is 2.66ghz yet single core amd 3000+ is around the same as a 3ghz intel ![]() roffles at the 533mhz fsb. Single core amd processors FSB ive seen go up to 1800mhzfsb. amd still wins.. however, for that price, its not bad.. I would still go with an amd anyday over intel. |

The numbering system that AMD has is what used to be roughly equivilent to an Intel cpu. Not too long ago intel changed over to a more elaborate numbering system which no one knew what it meant. That meant that an AMD 2400+ was equivilent to an old Pentium 4 Northwood chip(My old one). Just because the AMD chips have a lower clock speed does not mean they are not as good. They just can do more at that clock speed and still be the same as an intel one. If you'll remember on last week's RSBANDBUpdate! we talked about new chips that were coming out from Intel. These chips no longer use the old numbering system. However there was a problem with the Prescott's which were what was used in making the old extreme edition, they had many heat problems. Now with Intel's Core 2 Extreme and Core 2 Duo out soon, AMD still holds an advantage as their dual cores are more affordable. Some benchmarks have suggested that intel dual cores perform better at office tasks while AMD dual cores don't perform as well but are still good for office and gaming related tasks. There is no question AMD is better for gaming. I have a X2 3800+ in this system and it is great. Even though it only clocks at 2.0Ghz. (I got it up to 2.2Ghz without problems ![]() In the end there are still relatively equivlent. |
