Sorry, not a fan of the mac, I'd suggest Microsoft. The reason is because there is more software that is compatible with microsoft and microsoft is more common. The mac is about "style" but I don't see any style in their design.

Macs are alright if you just want a computer to write documents, check your mail, etc but if you play games or like to use lots of different computer programmes..it's so hard to find Mac compatible software. I like that Apple puts effort into design. I own a Dell and it's the most homely thing I've ever seen. Big bulky and black. I wouldn't mind something a little more attractive.

Surley that would depend on the users own defences? I didn't realize they made them to be 'hack' proof i thought that's the job of a firewall and stuff.

No contest. Definately Windows.

And to the guy above, the reason Macs are "safer" is because nobody uses them, so who would waste time writing viruses and abusing exploits on a Mac?

Of course a Mac.

In the whole OS X history, there has been barely any viruses or worms that are harmful to the operating system. OS X is based on unix and is mostly FreeBSD, that's why it is safer.
If you guys have any knowledge about a Mac, you'll know that you don't need a firewall nor anti-virus because most likely you'll never get one.

Someone said there aren't alot of softwares for Macs. That is incorrect. A Mac comes with tons of different software including, iSight and a tons more. The freeware list for a Mac is about the same length as for Windows. It is NOT hard to find Mac compatiable software.
Even Microsoft had its office ported to Macs. Most large open source projects are ported onto Mac anyways.

I would want a mac seeing as they can boot XP now. And as I hear the imac graphic cards are good so basically use the mac for everything except playing games then goto windows for games. I'd be perfectly able to exist with what I do on a mac except for my games which is what the new intel macs can do.

Can you explain a bit on how to make the mac boot xp? Do you just have to put the xp disk in and install it? Or is there more to it then that? Can you tell me either by posting here or through pm. This is making me second guess about my choice here. If it can be done easily I might buy a mac and put xp into it.

Apple released Boot Camp Public Beta yesterday. http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/
It allows you to "install Windows XP without moving your Mac data".

I would wait until August, 2006 when OS X v10.5 (Leopard) is coming out. Boot camp is said to come with Leopard, plus it's still in beta right now.

Of course, you'll have to get one of those Intel Macs.

My opinion is that Macs are the worst thing to hit computers.
You can't right click
All the cool games are not compatible with it
and...
You can't upgrade it

PC can do a lot of things macs can't.
