Post subject:  Hacking Sites

They are a lot of hacking sites out there which you can use to test your knownledge are skill in the hacking field. They claim that they are there to help administrators find flaws in their system (*cough* yeah right *cough*).

A) Have you ever signed up to any?

B) Were you any good?

LOl. I reckon anyone who 'did any good' would now be in trouble with the government :P Most of these sites are watched closely to protect national security.. or at least thats what I believe :)

I heard about that. :P

Nope and I never will sign up to any of those things. I don't cheat and I never will. Also those sites might beinfected or something like that, I mean the admins are hackers. So no, I stay clear of those kind of sites.

http://www.governmentsecurity.org - a security site (yeah right)

http://www.rootthisbox.org/ - fun little thing you can sign up for if you have a server.

I've signed up for "hacker" sites, but I've never ever have been good at it. And I never will be.. I'll be a programmer instead :P

I know this might scare some of you computer nerds who do nothing but read stuff on the internet, but there is really only one way to learn how to hack.

Books. (aah the dreaded book! nooo!)

I cant hack myself, but i know some who can. If you really want to know how to hack, do the following:

Learn Assembler (a programming language)
Learn Java (another programming language) - thats Java Program Programming AND Java Applet Programming
Learn Perl (another programming language)
Learn C++ (yet another programming language)
Learn how to become a Unix Administrator
Learn how to become a Windows Server Administrator
Learn MySQL, MSSQL and Oracle database languages

Those are absolutely essential if you want to hack. I cant do i single bloody one of them. If you have some more time on your hands, do these too:

Learn Pascal (programming langauge)
Learn Lisp (programming language)
Learn Basic (programming language)
Learn Visual Basic (its the n00bs programming language but never mind)
Learn about the windows "/WINDOWS/system32/config/" folder.
Get, or write, a brute-force password hacker.

And learn HTML, Javascript, PHP, JSP, XML, XHTML, and CSS too. They are useful for web coding.

Hope this helps. :D
