Back over a year ago, I decided to start pushing for level 99 ranged. I decide to range Black Dragons to level 99. I believe I started out at around 87 ranging. I chose Black Dragons because even though it was slower than other methods, I knew the drops would benefit other skills in the future, and because I wanted a draconic visage ( I was too cheap to buy one). Along the way I was able to rack up thousands of charms, Dragon Bones, and Dragon Hides. The charms helped me get 99 summoning and the Dragon Bones helped with prayer. Since I already had 99 crafting, I sold the hides and bought either more Dragon bones or summoning shards. Here's where the rotten luck happen's. I know I killed over 10,000 Black Dragons in going for 99, and not once did I get a Draconic Visage. Since then I've killed thousand more dragons, including black, iron, steel, mith, and KBD and still no visage. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with getting that visage drop. I've got plenty of cash to buy a visage or dragonfire shield, (in fact I had no problem shelling out the gold for an SGS), but I'm too stubborn to give up. I think the Runescape gods are looking down on me and laughing. lol |

I recommend killing frost dragons if you want a visage, i hear they have a decent drop rate. |

Frost Dragons are on my hit list, but I need 85 dungeoneering to do them. I'm only at 77 dung, and with no desire to work on it anytime soon, (only getting my xp from penguins and tears, lol) |

I can relate, I used to train ranged on dust devils in 2006 back when dragon chainbodys were still worth a decent amount for the rare drop rate. I killed over 7000 of them and never got a chain from them.  I hate to be "that guy" but I've gotten a visage from black dragons a couple years ago. I was in the evil chicken lair doing a slayer task of them. I'm sure you'll get one soon  This thread is also more of a goal than a discussion so I'm moving it as such |

I did all my Black Dragons in the evil chicken's lair as well. Over the time I was training ranging on them, there were times where I lost my internet connection and couldn't log back in fast enough to retrieve the drop. Wouldn't it be the worst luck if one of those "lost" drops was a visage, lol. I too played around with thousands of dust devils back when Dragon chains were all the rage, and never got a drop from them. Now, every time I have them for slayer, I think, maybe this time I'll get lucky, lol. The only real success I've ever had with rare drops was from Iron and Steel Dragons. I've gotten lots of Dragon Skirts and Leg's outta them. |
