During my internship this summer, I was taught how to use a 3D printer and was allowed to print something with it.

Here's something I modeled using SolidWorks

And then I printed it.

Oh wait. I should've assembled it too.

Wow that looks really nice.

I've just finished building my own 3d printer (a Mendel-Prusa) and I just ordered 4.6kg of filament. Now I only need to make some good 3d models.

That is so awesome! I can't wait until 3D printers are in households.

I'm ashamed that you didn't try to make an AK 47. Jk, but that looks very nice! I don't know what effort is entailed in 3D printing, but the model and the real thing look very snazzy.

the materials for 3D printing are still far to expensive for most households to enable this type of manufacturing for personal use.

looks good from model to finished product tho the barrel looks a lot longer on the finished product than in the render of the model but could just be the perspective shown too.
modelling the munitions and firing mechanisms would be rather tedious along with the added cost to use the 3D printer again. it is still far easier to just go out and buy the actual AK-47 and it's ammo.
