I came across an interesting quote from a link provided in the RSBandBInformer "Friends" page. On this page you will notice a link to the RuneScape Reader's Digest. On this site one of the blogposts had this to say:

Where is the best place for a Runescape blog

Take a look at Josh's question about it. It's actually a tough one.

In my opinion it is easier to start a Runescape blog at one of big sites with established blogging community, like Sal's or Tip.it (or even RSBandB). You'll get readers and comments right away. But it is much harder to go beyound this particular community in a long run...

This brings me to my inquiry. Can RSBandB members create individual blogs here at RSBandB? How and where would one do this? Within the forums? Under what section?

Any clarification on this would be great. Perhaps a section of the forums could be devoted to individual user blogs if they could be coded to function like a blog.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I kept an RS blog in goals and achiev when i played. If memory serves me correctly your allowed to post as many times as you like cause theres no post count so you can double, triple post n stuff with updates.

I just updated it with any levels, quests or interesting things that happened in rs when i played.

We don't have anything available to all users for traditional blogging like a wordpress/blogspot blog but there are other areas you can use sort of like a blog. There's RuneWire for microblogging, there's the goals and achievements forum like creepy mentioned for people to follow your runescape adventures, or you could always just create topics with your thoughts in the respectable areas of the forums.

The thing about individual blogs is, they are more private in nature. It is hard to get people to follow you on them and to comment. If you were to post your thoughts as new threads on a forum instead of having a personal blog, it would be much more likely someone would see it and comment on it.

A couple years ago, many of our users had started up wordpress blogs. I was (and still am) following at least 40 RSS feeds of rsbandb member's blogs, however none of these members post on their blogs anymore. I'm not sure what made them lose interest in posting on their blogs but would having something on the RSBandB site specifically dedicated to blogs make people more likely to continue blogging? I don't know.

As always, if there is enough interest in having something added to the site, we will consider it.

For RS Microblogging - RuneWire.
For full blogging I like wordpress.com but as Mike said if there's enough interest we will look into adding it. I know Wordpress MU is publically available now and there are Wordpress plugins that allow phpBB authentication.

Would that be restricted to runescape or other things as well. If that was the case I would love it. Be very nice to implement into the forums.

That would all have to be decided upon if we were to go ahead with this. But it would all depend on user demand, we've added items before and they ended up not being used. Anything added in the future will be considered very carefully.

I think for now RuneWire covers most of it. Maybe an update to RW would work for both.

No one reads those unless it is by a popular person, famous person, or by their friends. =s

I always feel though that people get mad at my when I post non-rs idems there. Because let's say ATM I am not playing rs. (which I'm not) I would still like to post but I don't for the sake that runewire is dedicated to runescape.

Whats an example of a non-rs post you'd typically make on runewire. I think if you was to put in a section where i could just make a topic and post whatever i like ala blog style I'd just dump all my gaming stuff in there. Any achiev, goings on in MMO's. Like my RS "blog" but more games in general. I'd certainly use it just to keep a record really not too bothered if anyone ever read it. Saying that i can do that on my PC.

That's the thing though Killjoy, RW is tailored for Runescape, but not exclusive to it. You can post whatever non-rs tidbits that you want on it as long as it complies with the rules - some people do that exclusively - and people shouldn't get mad at you if you do it too.

That's just the name of the site. You don't hear people talking about WIRE all that often either, should we shun them for that?

Post subject:  Re: RuneScape Blog

That's interesting. No one has ever freaked out about the wire part of the name, only the rune part.

I think from now on all posts on RuneWire should have to be about smithing rune wire in the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game http://www.runescape.com/game.ws?j=1. I expect this in the rules by midnight edt.

I guess you could simply use Runewire or Link Runewire posts to your blogspot. Also alternative for blogspot is twitter.
But closest thing on the site is definitely Runewire!
