The Designer, which I would like to use very much, is not working for me. I accepted the Java applet, and all I see is a gray box with a red "X" in the top left corner. I apparently have the latest Java for my Mac, since it does not show up in the "Software Update" box. Any help here? If this is not supposed to go here, just move it to where it is supposed to go, thanks! |

It's working for me on Firefox 3.5.1 (Mac of course.) From what you describe it sounds like it got messed up while loading. Try clearing your cache to see if that helps. Also what browser and Java version are you running with? To find the version do a spotlight for Java preferences then take note of which runtime has priority for applets. |

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.20. And, how do I do a spotlight for Java preferences? EDIT: Clearing the cache didn't work all that well for me, and I still get a gray box. |

Just a hunch but try upgrading to Firefox 3? Or try in Safari maybe? For the Java Preferences just click Spotlight and search for that. Unless you're running on Panther, I'm not really sure. There was no spotlight there. |

Is 10.3.9 panther? Because this is around 5 years old, currently. And I shall try upgrading to Firefox 3, and I will edit the post if it works. (If it doesn't, then...I'm still gonna edit it. :p) EDIT: Can't install it, don't have the password to, so...I guess it wont work for me. |

10.3.9 is panther, explaining the lack of Spotlight. I'd talk to whoever manages the computer and get them to install the latest of Safari and Firefox. The 2.0 stream is really old and doesn't receive updates anymore. |

Also be sure to run software update as there have been quite a few java updates. |

Firefox 3 isn't Pantherable. I just went on my computer with 10.3.9 and it didn't work in any browser either. However, the guy who made it I guess has a different version but it looks basically the same on his website and it worked in Panther: http://www.saam007.com/java/?JApp=hdesign Other than I suppose you would have to use another fansite's house designer. I think RHQ has one but I don't recall it being that good. |
