Okay, I hope I don't get completely lambasted for posting this. I think we need a place for forum games to go. Part of the problem with the Sandbox was post volume and flaming. There were so many posts to moderate and so many people being unkind to each other. I've seen this done on another forum and I think it's a really good idea. Make a sub-forum and sticky about 10 popular forum games (that way there's not going to be four topics about the "finish the sentence" game). Disable post count and the ability to post new topics (sure, there should be a suggestion post to recommend forum games, but whatever). It doesn't take any spare coding, or mods to the forum and it seems like people really want to just have some mindless fun every now and then. Unlike the Sandbox, it wouldn't dominate the attention of everyone since only certain topics would be allowed. Part of what I like most about RSBANDB is that it's relaxed and fun around here. I think other people would appreciate the added ability to just "hang out" as well. Yea, nay? |

As long as it was moderated to stay on topic and not float off to off topic conversations that will bring on old sandbox behavior. |

I think it is a great idea, seeing as the Runescape forums has this too. |

I remember I tried to get an idea like this, like many others had in the past. But I was told the sandbox could be used for this. Now that there is no sandbox, it only begs to reason that it could be possible. |

We had a sub-forum for forum games (along with other things) and the site owners felt it caused too much flaming and whatnot, so why would they bring it back now? All it would do is promote spam, lower usage of other forum sections, and eventually be not used at all and be removed. Take a look at the Literature forum, there's like 3 people that actually post in there on a regular basis. |

I think there's a significant difference between forum games and poetry/prose when it comes to the two sections for that not to be an issue. Being a moderator once, I know how hard it was to deal with people in the Sandbox. That's why I suggested that only a few topics be stickied in the forum. I don't see what matter of flaming could go on in a "This or that?" game anyhow. My original post has a pretty clear-cut method for making the section to cut down on this possibility. Fact is, I don't see a whole lot being done about the actual RSBANDB community and I know that Shane's been busy with other things, but I don't think that adding a Forum Games section would bring on the apocalypse like people are saying it would. |

I'm saying that a lack of activity would be a common interest between the Literature forum and this Forum Game section. People keep asking for new sections that barely get used and eventually close down. Forum games aren't needed here, the Sandbox was closed to promote activity in the other areas, so why would they create an area just to play dumb games? And what do you mean "I don't see a whole lot being done about the actual RSBANDB community"? What's wrong with the community? Sorry, I'm not trying to offend you so please don't take it personally, I just think it's a illogical idea. |

That is mainly because there was a minority of people supporting these topics. For example, I barely go into the Literture forum because I am not interested in that kind of thing. However, I would go into the Forums Game section as I am interested in that sort of thing. Sometimes I have no content on my daily web routines so I go play a game and get mad at this cheater and quit. In this case, I would go to the forums game to get it. To sum up, I definitely support this idea. Great idea MQ. ![]() |

Illogical is when one arbitrarily applies the fate of the Literature forum to any suggestion to add more content to the community. I'm not bringing the state of the community into this, merely giving my opinion on something where I have enough experience to have a say. Either way, why not give it a try? I don't see what harm can come of it. If it ends up crappy, take it away. Some people are making it look like they'd be personally burdened with its existence. |

Most forum "games" are pointless and nobody ever sticks to the rules. |

I do hope that this will happen. I enjoy a lot of forums games, and it's pretty cool to see what great ideas people have. |
