So I've been seeing some shabby posts lately. Now, I don't mind if you have a typo or two or if you don't use perfect grammar, but you should at least make an attempt to use correct spelling, the proper forms of speech, and basic punctuation. Granted like I said you don't have to be perfect, in fact, I'm sure someone will come along to this post and rip it apart. Still, I just want to ask everyone to try and make quality posts. To help you in this venture, I have a site: http://www.dictionary.com. Bookmark it, and put it in your bookmarks toolbar folder or whatever the equivalent is on IE (or Opera, I'm using Mozilla 1.5.0.10) for easy access. In two seconds you can check your spelling on any word you are unsure of. The new mozilla firefox checks it for you...but I've had some words it didn't know, so I wouldn't necessarily trust that spell checker. I would like to note that if you put some time into posting intelligently, it can really boost your writing skill overall. Checking other's writing is a good way of making your own better and reading and writing a lot in forums, can really assist to that end. Anyway, I thought I might post this. I'm not criticizing anyone in particular, but I would like to be able to read what you post. Thanks, -meesekiller P.S. I've already used dictionary.com about four times in this post. |

There's also a Spell Check button beneath your textbox when you're typing your message. It will check your entire message. Also very helpful |

But then you would miss the whole experience of checking the part of speech, pronunciation, and definition  (thanks...I didn't know that was there...which makes it even more pathetic not to check your spelling).

See my signature for evidence. Most of the time I try make sure my posts are up to scratch with GPS (grammar, punctuation, spelling). I definitely agree with you. |

I have to agree as well, I occasionally make some mistakes when submitting messages, but I go back an edit it before anyone notices. |

For the record, this isn't a reason for everyone to go around bashing peoples spelling if it's readable it's fine with me. |

I agree, far too many people jump at the chance to be critical, pretty much over anything, it's quite childish really. |

It's something that's always annoyed me. I've ranted about it numerous times but nothing really happens.Some people don't understand that english isn't the one language of the world, some people may have dyslexia, others simply cannot learn how to spell. It's like making constant remarks about a persons' weight or their race, in most circumstances it's not something the individual can control. Making fun and/or criticizing someone's spelling only really shows your inability to read. I've not had a problem with understanding anyone on the forums so there's no reason anyone else can't understand them either. |

I essentially agree with Creepy and Anubis. However the amount of effort required to spell words correctly is absolute minimal, I don't see this an excuse to post like a dyslexic. I have a high tendency to be pedantic but at the end of the day it is about image, if you want to post like a 5 year old then so be it, you have lost any respect within the community had you had any in the first place. I have only once ever been unable to understand a post, but for someone as English as their first language that shouldn't happen. |

Well, it's still readable even if it has mistakes every two **** letters, you might remember the post Snowfox made about how our brains don't recognize the order of letters in words, but the word as a whole.. |

Actually, those who get ***** off from poor spelling lose my respect automatically. "Putting up with it" is more admirable. |

Eh, I doubt that anyone here has dyslexia. And if they DO, then they haven't said anything about it, so the only reason we have for their atrocious spelling/grammar is that they are...Well, call it what you want. I think that bashing people for terrible spelling/grammar IS wrong, though it annoys the heck out of me. However, I think that those people who can't type out a legible sentence should do their best to IMPROVE, so that people don't have anything to complain about. Get it? RsBandB - Don't yell at the "illiterates" [for lack of a better term]. "Illiterates" - Please, do your best to improve your spelling and grammar, so that the rest of RsbandB doesn't have anything to get angry about. |

While there is such a thing as dyslexia, having dyslexia should encourage you to try and type as well as possible. Misspelling proper english every now and again will still be comprehensibe (usually), although misspelling chatspeak can be completely incomprehesible. And as for the dictionary, those who use Opera can do the following: Go to dictionary.com, right click on the search box and select to Create Search. Make a keyword like di or something, then when you type di and a word into the address bar it will do a dictionary.com search for it. |

Or just get FireFox and use it's auto-spellcheck.
