Post subject:  Signatures, Calcs, and the RSBANDB High Scores

Some people have been asking why some of the stats on their signatures have been erased after it has updated in the past day, and why calculators can no longer retrieve their XP for some skills. I figured we should announce something unlike what Jagex does.

The reason for this is a change Jagex has made to the lite hiscores. It used to show the level and experience for all skills as long as it was above level 30, but now they have changed it back to show only ranked skills. So if you have a skill that is not in the top 1 million people you are once again out of luck.

We have enabled our database to store peoples stats above 30 again if they are not ranked. Any skills that were above 30 that are not ranked skills will now show up as 1's on stat signatures again till you reupdate it with your values. Goal signatures for unranked skills will have to be updated manually with your experience as well as the calculators. And finally the high scores will not show levels unranked on the official hiscores.

I don't know why Jagex bothered releasing the lite hiscores. I thought it was made in the assumption that it wouldn't be changing and would be something static the fan sites could use. If they are going to keep changing it (a little while ago they made a smaller change, changing xp to -1 instead of 0's if lvl < 30) we might as well just move back to the main hiscores page instead of the lite hiscores.

We appreciate Jagex allowing fan sites to use their bandwidth to retrieve user stats for stuff, but come on, stick to your word.

Don't call Jagex stupid! :(

Jagex should've just stuck with the old highscores... It was a lot better.

Good old Jagex. Still making decent updates then wrecking them in some other way.

Give with one hand, take with the other and all that.

Might've been a bug in there or something, mhmm. Wouldn't have hurt to tell people though.

I really like the rsbandb highscores, one of the large reasons is because of showing ALL skills... and Jagex had to go and mess it up...

Will still continue to watch as your highscores definately have tons more features.

It is conceivable that Jagex either found a more compact way to move the data, or that they are fixing a bug. It doesn't make much sense for them to work so hard on an update and then just wisk it away.

Yes, but they should notify the users. When they made these lite hiscores it was implied that it would be something that fan sites would use for free and that it would not change.

If it's going to change, fine, but they should notify us.

I got an answer from Jagex on my complain about it:

Quote:
This was a bug in the Hiscores system and has now been resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

Alas, it looks like the change is permanent. No info about 30+ non-highscore skills will be released...
