I run it fine of FireFox. I would think a RS client would be the best. The RuneScape client by Jagex is IE based |

Same as what Ranging God said. I use FF as well. The actual RS client is probably the best, but I've heard Chrome is good overall and can probably run it just as well as any browser. Really comes down to personal preference I think. |

I don't think the client is IE based anymore. After that update, I felt like it had a major speed boost. Which is good, IE never liked my system anyway. |

I think from memory it runs on their own integrated version of OpenJDK java. I may just be entirely speculating there but the point being at least that they've turned it into a full client rather than just an IE frame. To add to that, the browser you use won't (or at least shouldn't) affect RuneScape's performance. They all implement whatever version of Java you have installed separately on your computer, whereas the RS client implements its own version. This is why you could notice a difference with the RS client compared to browsers, but browsers will only differ against each other in their load times etc. So that makes the choice a little easier for you. ![]() |

i use the client to play rs, and ff for browsing. i like having the client because if i'm surfing the net while playing and ff decides to crash on me, it doesn't hurt rs. |

Once your window/tab is loaded, all it is doing is loading the Java applet with whatever version of Java you have installed. In general for RuneScape, I'll create a RuneScape Application Shortcut in Chrome so that I can just click on an icon on my desktop. This loads the world quick, saving me having to deal with the main page before loading, and most of Chrome's UI while playing. |
