Ok, hears the deal:
Me and one of my good friends got in a disagreement.

He thinks that if plant has needs a higher level to be able to plant it, then it has a higher chance of dieing. (for example, a snapdragon has a higher chance of dieing than a harralander.)

But I think that it doesn't matter what the required farming level is, it about compost.

So, if anyone could give me an answer, whether I am right, or he is right, it would help :D

definitly not random... using compost lowers the chance and then super compost lowers the chance even more. Also (someone correct if wrong) higher farming lvl decreases the disease chance too along with giveing more herbs per patch possibly

I think that is right, since higher level will have a higher chance of getting more herbs, so therefore lessen the chance of herbs dying. But with harralander and snapdragon example, I am not sure.

If you're talking about things other than herbs, if you pay them the farmers will look after them too

Well, your friend is kind of right on that one...
The higher the level of herb, and if you farming level is low, it will die more often than harralander.
In this case harralander vs snapdragon, it depends on your farming level. If you use supercompost, you just decrease the change of dying.

It's all about your farming level, and not how high the level requierements are.

Contrary to most of the answers in this topic, I've personally not noticed any direct correlation between disease rate and farming level (and neither herb yield to farming level). It is definitely affected by compost/supercompost however, so you are right in saying that.

Hehe they're both masters, and the npc could be one too due to his name in runescape. Sorry getting off topic lol.

i don't think it matter on the level of the plant, more on the your farming level(in fact i know it does, a jagex mod told me a few months ago on the forums). but yeh no matter how good your farming level is, dumping a good heap of rotten veggies on your plants makes em bigger and stronger.
