Post subject:  Best way to get 69 smithing for new quest?
I'm currently lvl 63 in smithing and wanted 69 for the quest. What is the fastest way without losing much money? I will not be doing gold ores.

buy iron and coal turn that into steelbars then make cannonballs

I've discovered Edgeville is faster than Neitzot. You should go there. All you need is Varrock 1 Armor.

Gold ore with Goldsmith gauntlets is the best. ;)

You should make some steel bars and then make steel arrows until you get 69 smithing. this will also help with some fletching xp

Whoever mentioned making cannon balls as fast must be nuts. It is sooo slow. The money is good though.

The fastest way is to make gold bars with gold smithing gauntlets. I am in the same boat as you and need 69 smithing to get my quest cape back. Here is a break down I made:

XP for 1 inventory of:
Iron 350 (with ring of forging)
Steel 157.5
Gold 1573.6(with gauntlets)
Mith 150
Addy 150
Rune 150

Time wise gold is much faster because you eliminate trips to the bank every few bars. One inventory gets you 28 bars, while steel gets 9, mith 5, addy 4 and rune only 3 bars per trip.

If you want to cross train, then bring 27 gold ores and an amulet mold. Make 27 bars then 27 ammys (or bracelets). You get 30xp per amulet and 25 for a bracelet. You can string them if you want, but it is only another 4 crafting XP and not really worth it. It also has no effect on the high alch value, both strung and unstrung alch for 210gp each.

So.. For just a bit more time you will have:

1517 Smithing XP
810 Crafting
1755 Magic XP (for high alching all the ammys)

Pretty effective use of your game time.

I have 3m gp to spend on gold ores, will that be enough for 69?
