well considering that they just ruined fish as a trade item i would say they are just trying to get the people to quit

I'm getting the feeling they'll end up taking RuneScape off the Internet, releasing it on CD as a single-player game, and bankrupt.

If they released RS on a CD, only one person would buy it...then it would be on BitTorrent, and people would use it for a day, then abandon it forever. I think Jagex will leave it online for as long as they can make money.

Yea, I do think that everyone has to become a bit more self sufficient, but unfortunately that task it too much for some people...The people who used to buy gold are being given the option by gold farmers/scammers/whoever to be power-leveled. Wahoo, now we'll really be trying to figure out the scumbags from the normal group of players :?

yeah I think that they are making us more self sufficient if they want to or not they are!!! and if they made A CD for runescape that made it in to A HD game I would buy it but A single player CD hell no!!
multi player is the hole point of the game! :D

It was a joke. If Jagex's goal was to teach RuneScape about self-sufficiency, making it single-player would be smarter, because then you'd have no real people to rely on.
I think the recent updates are only intended to deliver a fatal blow to "real-life trading", and the only thing Jagex unintentionally achieved when they did this is the anger of many players, intelligent or not.

yea i agree. instead of getting laws for free via other players that want to craft them for us on 66 were gonna have to get lvl 54 rc and make them ourselves. since the update has eliminated many conveninces such as these yea i agree 100% that jagex is tryig to get players to train on their own skills and make them better (even tho they did release the assist system lol)

Well, there is GE and it is very good for buying various resources, like seconds, herbs, seeds, raw fish, logs etc. So if you are an ultimate skiller, you can get resources you need much easier now. It is also easier (though some time with a long wait) to sell some of the skilling by-products, such as jewelery etc.
So, I wouldn't say Jagex is making player entirely self-sufficient. What they removed (or removing) is an ability to get rich without earning your money.
