You have to take a plant pot filled with dirt from any patch, and plant the acorn on it, and water it. Once it becomes a sapling, you can move the thing over to an actual tree plot. There is one near the HAM hideout I believe.

Here's some information about growing trees.

First, you can only have a total of 4 trees growing at one time across Runescape. And you can also have 4 fruit trees growing at one time also. This is because there are only 4 plots for each in which to grow trees so that whole idea about growing 50+ Oak trees is definitely out. But the nice thing is, you get great experience for checking the health of the tree once it's fully grown, and you can chop it down as many times as you like and it'll grow right back! you need to chop it down and then immediately dig up the stump to get rid of it to plant something new in that spot.

Good luck, hope this was helpful,

No, unfortunately you cannot continuously Check the health of the tree for massive experience boosts. But, what you can do is check the health one time only, then cut down and dig out the tree and replant a new seed as often as you can, wait until the time limit is up (see RuneHQ.com) for more info on Farming, and then Check the new tree's health and do it all over again. This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons tree seeds are so expensive.

Good luck~
