I was following this story. There were 60 people unaccounted for, last I heard they were found in the airport. So just to the 2 fatalities and a dozen critical injuries. I know no further update from that, which was this morning I believe, anyways it could of been a lot worse. |

Only 2 dead so far is pretty amazing. It comes from a combination of honed evacuation procedures and the safety of modern airliners. Preliminary reports say that the ILS (instrument Landing System, lets the plane fly the landing approach automatically until a couple hundred feet up) on those SFO runways was shutdown for construction since late June. This could be a factor in the crash in some way since it seems that the manual approach was too low. Nonetheless it's a little too early to tell with certainty what happened. |

I flew into San Fran last spring so after the landing over the bay into the very fast approaching lading on the runway literally feet away from the bay it's understandable. |

Didn't one of the teens who passed away from this accident was hit by an emergency responding vehicle..? Maybe I heard wrong but that's what I feel they believe. Was that proven true or not, does anyone know? How does something like that even happen, who's to blame there. Plane's remains are cleaned up, or least started, should be about done now. |

UPDATE: Third girl aboard Asiana jet dies from injuries It has been confirmed that one of the girls died after being hit by a fire truck. A third girl has died from her injuries. |
