Hello Community,

All I can think of is, "book meets movie theater."
You can pay to see a movie only once. Now, you can pay to read a book only once. I write "can pay," but what if all publishers did this? You wouldn't have a choice. Keeping up with the movie theater theme, publishers would release the non-disappearing version by the time the second book in the series was released. So like movies, you could buy the book after release or wait for it to come out on ... hard text?

That is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen...I can only see total idiots buying those but since there are so many stupid people in the world right now it's probably very profitable.

Movies in theaters eventually make it to purchasable media.
In terms of books, the "theater" part would be if the author read it out loud to everyone, and the "media" part is a copy of the book.

Making a physical book that disintegrates after one read is just a plain waste of materials and other resources.

The idea is nice, but it's impractical. People buy books to hold onto them usually, not to just read them once and toss them. I like the idea that you shouldn't wait to read a book and giving a people an incentive to read quickly (the disappearing ink), but it just doesn't work for the physical form. It's only for people who plan to read the book once and do so quickly, not for the typical reader. Maybe you could have an option on the Kindle or Nook for the text to disappear after you read it, but still keep the book and text once you are finished. That would be much more practical.

Nice idea, but like Cliff said, not the best use of resources and certainly not the best method for helping authors get their works out there.

It's an interesting idea but probably wouldn't work.

The extra profit that the company would make from people reading the book once before buying the normal non-disintegrating copy a few months later would be counteracted by the the cost of producing these disintegrating books.

This is so stupid! How many trees are they wasting!? Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? I want find the person who thought this a good idea, and smack them in the face with one of their books. That's like marketing a one use car or a one use television. You just DON'T do that! People like products that last. Would you buy a gaming console if you knew it'd go kaput in a couple of months? I would not. This is just an obvious grab at extra money with no regard for the natural resources that they're going to waste. These books would probably be outlawed by environmental agencies within months if for some bizarre reason masses of people started buying these books. I'm willing to make the bold statement that such an event would take environmental protection of forests ALL THE WAY back to the early 1900s.

Screw these books and the greedy twats that think they will be successful in the marketplace. No talented author would be dumb enough to have their book printed in this manner! I definitely will NOT be a consumer of this temporary, money grabbing, and wasteful form of media.
