Post subject:  Lasers + Fog = Fun

As some of you know, I have a new toy - a green laser. Well, actually I upgraded the one I had before and bought another weaker one, and man are they fun to play with. My upgraded one can pop balloons unaided as well as light matches and cut electrical tape with a lens.

Anyway, tonight we have quite the foggy night (94% humidity) and I just could not pass this up to take some pictures. This may even convince you to get one

Wow, pop balloons and light matches. Beware. Keep away from eyes.

I have two, a 5mW and a 35mW. The 5mW is severely dimmer, but still pretty cool, for $35. The 35mW is $160. They also have a 15mW for $100. Their pen size lasers go up to $500, and then they have a couple larger ones.

whoa. those things cost like $500. I am definitely getting one after high school. Oh, and how bright is the dot at close range? is it comparable to the focus of a 12-in fresnel lens?

It costs $500 if you want one that is super bright and can burn things unaided and is very very dangerous to your eye without proper protection. Mine was $160.

And as for the dots at close range, here is what they look like in a lit room. I don't know what a fresnel lens is =p

At night they light up your whole room.

Also, here are some videos.

11 foot balloon pop with a very crappy camera.

Match Light Video with a better camera.
