Post subject: | Scrolling in RS won't work in Safari |
So my problem is I cant scroll in runescape wile using Safari. However, i can scroll just fine on any other normal web pages. It's just in the actual game that i can't scroll in. - I've tried using the 3.0 Beta as well as the 2.4 Version that comes with Tiger. They both have the same problems. - The scrolling works fine in, Firefox & Camino. - I'm using an imac G5. 1.8Ghz PPC. 1GB Ram. (version 10.4.10) - I tried using safari on my dads ibook and the same problem happened. Can anyone help? Will this be fixed in Safari 3.0 when they come out with Lepard? Any help would be greatly appreciated :] Thanks for your time, Rice. |

You mean you can't use the scroll bar IN the Runescape applet, such as the chat box? That wouldn't be affected by your browser as it's all done by the Java applet. If you can make any other interactions with the game, those scroll bars will work. |

thats correct, I can not scroll anything (i.e bank window, chat box, friends list, quests lists etc.) But i can play the game just fine. As a metter of fact, i'm playing right now. But if it's the java.. why will it work in FF and Camino? rice. |

Scrolling works fine for me in Safari 2.04. The only thing that doesn't work is the scrollbars using the mouse wheel. Did it work before or did it just stop? |

It's possible it's something wrong with Safari capturing the mouse or something. I've no idea whether it will be fixed in Safari 3. What I would recommend is using another browser. Firefox and Camino actually use the same rendering engine, so they will both work the same, but you could also use iCab or Opera to test if it's not just something wrong with Java. Shiira uses the same rendering engine as Safari, so that won't make much difference, unless it's a problem with Safari and not its rendering engine. Try the others browsers I have mentioned, and see if it happens with them. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend using Safari. It's a bit rubbish compared to the other browsers available. |

Shane, thanks for responding :] I meant the scrolling works fine, I just cant scroll via mouse wheel. (which is really handy sometimes) Is this the same for you? I think thats what you meant. not sure though. Matt, thanks for your response as well :] Yea, I found by using different browsers the scrolling attribute changed. It seems it WONT work in Safari, Opera, and Shiira. but WILL work in FF, and Camino. I have yet to try icab. EDIT: ICAB IS EXTREMELY SLOW AND WOULD NOT EVEN LOAD RS :/ The reason I want to use Safari though is it doesn't lag as much in game. It seems like in FF/Camino, when there is a lot of people around, the game seems to lag a lot more. Bad enough to the point I can't walk in w2 Fally. So thats why i'm trying to use safari. thanks a lot for your help so far guys ![]() |

I'm pretty sure scrolling doesn't work due to a limitation in Java ![]() |

Ok, thanks a lot shane. Do you think it will be fixed? Like when new java update comes available. Or when Safari 3.0 comes out? Can wait to hear your next show! I've been a listener since show 5 ![]() |
