Okay, for the past.. 7 months I've been using this computer - and it seems just randomly my display driver decides to "break" and I get the evil blue screen telling me that windows has been shut down etc, etc.

It's not spyware and it's not a virus, cause sometimes this happens right after a re-format!

I want to fix it. And I have no clue where to begin.

Graphics Card = ATI Radeon X550
Driver = ati2dvag.dll

If you need any other information to help, don't hesitate to ask.

1. I've always been an NVidia owner but ill try

Have you tried completely removing your display drivers?
(start<control panel<system<hardware<drive manager) Find you driver, right click, you can try to find updates for it. If no updates are found = uninstall it. (there is a button for install)
*Make sure you have downloaded the latest driver from ATI FIRST, if you can't find them I will*
Then reboot, and reinstall your drivers

If you can get an exact message of BSOD then i can help more,
I personally had this on my home built system (It was because the IRQ setting in my BIOS, two drives were fighting for the same #)

How new is your driver?
Heres a driver on driverguide, you'll need an account there of course though. http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=684048

Newest Display Driver installed.
Restarted after installing the driver, windows loaded and a bunch of error boxes came up, a few seconds later - the blue screen came up with;

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Started again now, no error boxes aside from "The system has recovered from a serious error."

Okay, after that, Andy told me to restart and go into the BIOS settings by pressing delete, and from there we figured out I have a more basic one than him. >.<

If you're still getting the problem with the newer drivers, you could try using the Omega Drivers. I had BSOD with a the default drivers that came with my laptop, but I havent had any BSOD problems with the Omega Drivers so far.

Just select a mirror and install them. You'll need to reboot.

I sometimes get wierd lines appearing with them after hibernation, although if you shut your computer down instead of hibernate it, you should be fine.

It may be worth me mentioning I'm using Windows XP ME, and not professional/home. Since the place I downloaded my newer driver from had seperate sections for each.

Problem is, I don't know whether it's fixed or not until I get another message. :\

It's XP Media Center Edition, if I'm correct.
