It's probably because drugs are easier and cheaper to get. |

^ So maybe we should first talk about why she warrants attention and then we might get some sympathy for her. |

Best chances for survival for artists is getting famous after you get 27. Lots of them die at that age. |

It's not happening more often. Previous celebrity deaths are just quickly forgotten about after the news finds the next latest celebrity gossip to report about, unless you actually knew who they are. 27 is a common age for musician deaths as Southrend mentioned. See the 27 Club |

Duke Juker wrote: ^ So maybe we should first talk about why she warrants attention and then we might get some sympathy for her. You need a reason to have sympathy for someone who's died? If you don't know who she is and cna't be bothered to wiki it then it doesn't matter move on. |

Good point. Perhaps the better question is why should I care about her death when lots of people die around the world? Why do celebrities get more attention than anyone else in death? They are a human being just like anyone else. Why not have sympathy for everyone who dies or none at all? Seems inconsistent to care about celebrity X's death over anyone else who dies in this world. |

What is particularly disgusting is how much attention she has been getting in the media and on social networking sites such as Twitter compared to the Norweigan twin attacks. Honestly you'd have thought nothing had happened in Norway. |

Ryan wrote: What is particularly disgusting is how much attention she has been getting in the media and on social networking sites such as Twitter compared to the Norweigan twin attacks. Honestly you'd have thought nothing had happened in Norway. Well, the reason it's all over social media is because Amy Winehouse is far less personal to people. It's way easier to say "R.I.P. Amy Winehouse" than "Lost my son in the recent shooting" in a Twitter message or Facebook post. The point you're making is still valid, though. To be honest, this isn't surprising in any way. She had a good voice, shame it's gone to waste. I'm sure the publicity she gets from being in the 27 club and everything will sell a decent amount of posthumous merchandise and records. |

Yes but it's not as if any of these posts have been anything other than "who??" so they hardly count. Newspaper said she'd been dead for 7 hours before they found her. No idea why that's important. edit: On the other hand i wouldn't be too surprised if people didn't realize norway was a country and responded with similiar comments. Perhaps that's why you got no comments they was too busy trying to locate it on a map. ///grumpy |
