Toyota is recalling 1.53 million Lexus, Avalon and other models, mostly in the U.S. and Japan, for brake fluid and fuel pump problems, the latest in a string of quality lapses for the world's No. 1 automaker. Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it will call back for repairs about 740,000 cars in the U.S. and 599,000 in Japan. The remainder are in Europe and other markets around the world. Over the past year, Toyota has recalled more than 10 million cars and trucks worldwide for a variety of problems, from faulty gas pedals and floor mats that can trap accelerators, to braking problems in its Prius hybrid. In August, Toyota recalled 1.33 million Corolla sedans and Matrix hatchbacks in the U.S. and Canada because their engines may stall. The majority of vehicles this time around need to be fixed for a problem with the brake master cylinder which could lead to weaker braking power, said spokesman Paul Nolasco in Tokyo. Some models in Japan and elsewhere — but not in North America — have an electrical problem with the fuel pump which could cause the engine to stall, he said. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/as_japan_toyota_recall Sucks don't it? |

It's good Toyota is dealing with it promptly, but it bad they are making this many mistakes and having this many issues. It's good to deal with this stuff right away, but people will only put up with so many problems before they get fed up and take their money else where. |

My AP US Gov't teacher was talking about Toyota the other day. It's pretty much guaranteed that Toyota won't recover from this ![]() |

What toyota needs is Steve Jobs. If they just hired him to yell at buyers to not step on the brakes or use the gas pedal to roughly, all their problems would be solved. |

If Steve Jobs made cars, we wouldn't be able to get custom parts for it. |

A bajillion makes come out of Japan. It only seems to be isolated to Toyotas however. Hondas are still pretty **** good and by far my most favorite make of car to drive. My dad had a 1998 Accord that he ran past 150k miles before I got the car briefly (then he traded it in for a new Accord model, which is even more awesome). And Chinese cars? What? I haven't noticed any popular makes come out of China... then again, Made in China. |
