So here's the thing, I'm moving from Barrie to Toronto. And I need to hand off a 2 week notice to my work. And I've never had to write one. I can't get my parents help, they're in the dark about the whole situation, I can't ask any of my friends they're to busy all the time. I can't ask my girlfriend, because she dreads the idea of me moving and doesn't really like talking about it. So I can't really ask anyone else. I just wanna be professional about it. Any pointers or anything making a piece a paper saying that i'm going to quit in two weeks? It seems to straight forward lol And I figured i should post here more |

Dear loser boss...enjoyed working the deep fryer at MacDonald's...I've learned many things during my stay here such as how ***** teenage boys can be and how many losers ask for "no pickles"...I wish I could keep that discount card longer so I could get fatter...sadly I have to leave for the big T.O...you suck, bye. That's the general idea but be a bit nicer and kiss his *** more ![]() |

I've never had any experience in it but I can't imagine lots of compliments go down too badly. Write how much you enjoyed work but are moving on. Be sure to thank him too ![]() |

Wouldn't bother. Just pull them to the side and say your leaving. If it is a fast food restaurant i doubt they expect much anyway. |

Creepy's pretty much right. Fast food places see workers come and go. Just let your boss know that you're moving. If you're really required to give a written note, then just write something like this: "Dear <boss name>, On <date>, I will be moving from Barrie to Toronto. I'm presenting this letter as my two weeks notice and hope that a suitable replacement can be found. Thank you for the opportunity, The Unknown Man (aka Bill)" |

Seems Reasonable. But yes my manager is like that, every time a worker is coming or going or w/e. It has to be by the books. No deviation what so ever. She is anal like that. But I guess that's why she is our general manager lol |

Like MQ said, if it's a fast food restaurant, they're probably very used to staff coming and going. On the other hand, I think a letter, just out of courtesy, is the right thing to do, even if it's only brief. |

MQ's example is fine, doesn't go into any great detail but the 'thank you' is a nice polite exit. Manager may ask more verbally, but if you have a job or study to go to, just be as non-committal or informative on info as you fell like being. Good luck in Toronto, seems unbelievable now but I lived and worked there in the mid-60's (yes I am that old ![]() |
