Jagex getting sued

Silly. I'd like to think nothing will come of this and in any other country I'd be confident of that but we'll see.

jeeeeez why can't they just pay the patent holders and be safe without getting sued, is it really worth saving that money just to have it taken away again in court?

i read the article but dont understand what could come out of this... could rs be shut down? or what all could happen in the end? cause alot of players on all fronts are going to be real unhappy with that if that happens

Lawsuits are always solved by an "out of court settlement" so there are definitely people out there willing to waste their time in taking big companies to court.

Lame. Can you really patent such a thing? That's like patenting first-person perspectives in a game, and then suing anyone who makes a game that has a first-person perspective.

Because they didn't know more than likely. People actually take patents out on things in the hopes that they can potentially sue for it later on. Microsofts currently got one stopping other console manufactures from allowing custom music to be played over games that's why you don't see it universally on the PS3 even though it's probably easy to do.

I was thinking they wouldn't have known but then I figured they would have done their research, in retrospect you're probably right they they didn't know it.

Actually not. I just think it's now too easy to get sued for the stupidest reason on earth. Watch out, you're about to get sued for using your own stuff or for saying the name of a company.
