Post subject:  Amazing Time Travel Paradox I found

A baby girl is mysteriously dropped off at an orphanage in Cleveland in 1945. "Jane" grows up lonely and dejected, not knowing who her parents are, until one day in 1963 she is strangely attracted to a drifter. She falls in love with him, but just when things are looking up for Jane a series of disasters strikes: First, she becomes pregnant by the drifter, who then disappears. Second, during the complicated delivery doctors discover that Jane has both sets of *** organs, and to save her life, they most surgically convert "her" to a "him." Finally, a mysterious stranger kidnaps her baby from the delivery room.

Reeling from these disasters, rejected from society, scorned by fate, "he" becomes a drunkard and a drifter. Not only has Jane lost her parents and her lover, but he has lost his only child as well. Years later, in 1970, he stumbles into a lonely bar, called Pop's Place, and spills out his pathetic story to an elderly bartender. The sympathetic bartender offers the drifter the chance to avenge the stranger who left her pregnant and abandoned, on the condition that he join the "time traveller corps." Both of them enter a time machine and the bartender drops the drifter off in 1963. The drifter is strangely attracted to a young orphan girl, who subsequently becomes pregnant.

The bartender then goes forward 9 months, kidnaps the baby girl from the hospital, and drops the baby off in an orphanage back in 1945. Then the bartender drops off the thoroughly confused drifter in 1985, to enlist in the time traveler corps. The drifter eventually gets his life together and becomes respected and elderly member of the time traveler corps, and then disguises himself as a bartender and has his most difficult mission: a date with destiny, meeting a certain drifter at Pop's Place in 1970.

That's not a paradox, that's a story involving a paradox in action.

There are two main time-travel theories (well, guesses on what might happen).

1) Everything you do in the past alters something in the present. Everything. Breaking would take someone else's air, for example. Also, if you killed your mom at the age of 2, then you would vanish into time the second she died.

2) Everything that has happened in the past is already being felt in the present. So, If you went back to stop yourself from getting mugged then what probably happened in the past was that you stopped one mugger only to be met by a new one. Thus, the mugger that actually mugged you was the one you failed to stop. Another way to look at it is you go back to help yourself get a good grade on a test, but by doing that you get caught and the teacher gives you a bad grade on purpose. The bad grade she gave you was the bad grade you already received.

Read the brand new Artemis Fowl book, it's about time travel.

I'm not even going to try to understand what happened. It's all very interesting but it's nice to just sit back and not worry about these theories :?

According to your story the drifter is a hermaphrodite. Funny and weird at the same time. But without the drifter there could be no child, and with no child there could be no drifter so theres your paradox ;)

If anything in the story was possible, you'd still have to wonder how it started. You can't just be formed from nothing, so where did the kid come from? The 'future' technically, according to this story, but 'it' couldn't be there if it was from the future. It would never have been there in the first place, so it couldn't grow up, become a 'he' etc.

Strange, but not exactly a paradox.

The one with an artefact? Read those three long time ago.

Another antiparadox hypothese is, the moment you kill your mother, the universe you're in branches off to create another dimension.

Wow that's really odd, although I'm partly confused.

Is there anyway to simulate what would happen if you did travel in time? I know they've made some molecules travel back, but that's not the point...

lol no, not at all...

There are 6 Artemis Fowls out now.
1 is about him finding the fairies
2 is about him finding his dad
3 is about the "cube" thing...
4 is about Opal Koboi, the evil pixie genious
5 is about the fairies asking Artemis for help, because they found out the Demon Warlocks might still exist in a "time rip"
6 is about him having to go back in time to stop himself from doing something that ends up possibly killing his present-time mother

I love those books...
