Does everyone know about the Hadron Collider? There's a description of it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider It basically accelerates particles extremely high speeds and they hope to accelerate 2 particles at each other and see what happens. Here's a video of what some people think might happen: http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-Black-Hole-on-Earth-6509.htm If it happens I'll be bummed since I haven't done much in life and I'm a tad afraid of it xD What do you think? |

Last I read they've shut down the project for a year because of damage that accidentally occurred to it. |

The project was shut down until spring because of minor damage that would prevent testing. The reason for it being shut down is not so much as the damage, but the pure amount of power it uses while just sitting there not running its experiments. Oh and a black hole like that wouldn't happen ![]() |

Heh, my friend was just telling me about how it was shut down until Spring today. He's really paranoid about it. |

I was afraid when I heard about it. I then heard that it wouldn't be able to make a black hole. Even if it did it wouldn't be able to suck up the whole world. Still, I'm still a little afraid of it. |

when i heard about it i thought it was stupid and wouldnt work. im not scard of it because no matter what happends i cant stop it or make it better so theres no reason to worry. i really think its just a waist, theres better things to spend the time money and energy on... |

I guess another year isn't too long to wait seeing as they've been planning and preparing for the LHC for 20+ years. |

The people who say that a black hole will form and gobble up the entire earth are just nuts, although the explosion when the particles collide is immense the scale that the explosion is on wouldn't really do anything other than set off hundreds of sensors and computers, to notify scientists of the results. |

^Yup, even if it was powerful enough to wipe off the earth...You wouldn't even know it happened. |
