From what i see...Palin seems to be winning so far. P.S. how many **** times are they going to say maverick. Seriously...it's getting annoying. |

forced to watch it, finally escaped ![]() I think Biden won. Palin obviously only prepared to discuss Afghanistan for foreign policies. Notice how she always went back to that? |

Palin won by far. lol but both were funny to watch. Palin would always smile and say funny phrases, and then Biden would take about 2 minutes just to figure out his own catchy phrase, and then Palin would say his phrase wasn't true, and then Biden would frown and take another 2 minutes to think of another catchy phrase. The whole time they were basically trying to explain their beliefs through riddles and catchy words. If you took the time to listen without any bias, it was really quite interesting to listen too xD |

I think they were both effective in their approaches. Palin had a very down-to-earth style that appeals to a lot of people, while Biden took charge and went after McCain. Both did well. Not sure who "won" though. |

On this topic Republicans and McCain supporters will say Palin won. Democrats and Obama supporters will say Biden won. That's politics. |

Neither of them shocked me. When Biden got asked a question he would blame the Bush administration. Watching Palin debate was like watching my mom, i think she needed to be more on the attack of Obama. |

Might have been one of the most interesting debate's i've ever seen |

I watched it in my AP Language and Composition class today. I think Palin did fairly well actually. I hadn't read/heard much about her so it was nice to finally hear what she had to say. But I do think she added too much 'fluff'. She kept refferring to herself as a soccer mom and kept referring to John McCain as a maverick. I do think she was doing better than Biden in the first half, but after she pulled the "Being a mom, one very concerned about a son in the war, about a special needs child, about kids heading off to college, how are we going to pay those tuition bills? About times and Todd and our marriage in our past where we didn't have health insurance and we know what other Americans are going through as they sit around the kitchen table and try to figure out how are they going to pay out-of-pocket for health care? We've been there also so that connection was important." Biden finally started really fighting back with: Look, I understand what it's like to be a single parent. When my wife and daughter died and my two sons were gravely injured, I understand what it's like as a parent to wonder what it's like if your kid's going to make it. I understand what it's like to sit around the kitchen table with a father who says, "I've got to leave, champ, because there's no jobs here. I got to head down to Wilmington. And when we get enough money, honey, we'll bring you down." I understand what it's like. I'm much better off than almost all Americans now. I get a good salary with the United States Senate. I live in a beautiful house that's my total investment that I have. So I -- I am much better off now. But the notion that somehow, because I'm a man, I don't know what it's like to raise two kids alone, I don't know what it's like to have a child you're not sure is going to -- is going to make it -- I understand. I thought that was good because her whole thing was her being a soccer mom and Biden put her right back in her place when he shared his life experiences. I guess it's like, Biden could have been dragging out how he lost his wife etc like Palin was doing, but he wasn't, and I respect that. Overall, I liked Biden best just because he left the "fluff" out and said what he was going to do/his views on things. Palin on the other hand reffered to her great Alaska 234234 times, reffered to herself as a soccer mom 23423 times, refferred to John McCain as a Maverick 23423 times, and winked at the camera.. That was actually funny. But yeah, she did better than I expected that's for sure. |

![]() All jokes aside, I think a decision on who "won" is based on whether you're a Republican or a Democrat. :p I thought both did a good job, even as Biden kept blaming the Bush Administration and Palin wouldn't stop mentioning mavericks. Naturally though those had to be strategies, as Obama is crazy about changing from the Bush Administration and the McCain supporters have to try to prove that McCain didn't always vote with Bush. |

I thought it was a tie, no major slip ups except maybe when Palin said that troop levels in Iraq are below surge levels (which is totally wrong). That was the only big lie that I heard but I'm sure they both made more. |
