| Post subject: | Anyone planned a trip? |
So ive had this idea in my head for about a year now of getting away, not just going out on the town or something but back packing out west. I recently watched the movie "into the wild" is really wanted me to take this trip. Id like to spend a summer living in Montana camping in the woods. Has anyone else thought about just getting away for everything? |

when i get in my 20's i plan on spending a few weeks atleast (maybe even longer) in the woods in alaska, i dont mean like camping out in a RV with store bought food, i mean like makeing my own little log cabin and hunting/fishing for food etc. that is if everything in my life goes right, its always been a dream of mine but that doesnt mean it well come true

All goes to plan i should be doing this in a couple of weeks, just heading off to northern England with friends, plan on doing something else in Feb, going even further - outside the country completely not decided where to yet though. |

Just gather bit by bit. Here is what i have so far... Several survival manuals, id recommend the SAS survival manual its amazing. Book on wilderness meat preservation Wild plants you can ear manual My camp tools Survival Knife I bought some really nice hiking shoes last year and i plan on wearing those. |

Would you go alone? I think that would get really lonely. I want to go to the Netherlands summer of 2010 with a friend, but I don't have any plans of going out into the wild or anything. I couldn't last XD |

Book on wilderness meat preservation Wild plants you can ear manual My camp tools Survival Knife I bought some really nice hiking shoes last year and i plan on wearing those. yeah i kinda am already, now keep in mind im 14 and plan on doing this in my 20's, but i already have rifles/shot guns (for meat) i have a good skining knife that should last for the rest of my life if im good with it (same with guns), but i wish i could find a book about wild plants i can eat around here. ill see if i can find some survival manuals soon, it wouldnt be a bad thing to even have for when i go hunting, never know when ur going to get lost. keep in mind in the woods things dont last long, so if your staying all summer get atleast 2 of everything. and a LOT of fire starters! good luck with your trip! I like the idea of going on a road trip around Europe with friends. Probably cost a hell of a lot in petrol alone though. |
