Nah, I'd rather they put the true meaning to the 'Life Sentence' punishment.

In for life. No chance of getting out.

Life in prison with no hope of release and hard labour is a better punishment than the death penalty.

If someone murdered somebody I love I'd rather see them worked like a dog for the rest of their lives than see them killed. Retribution solves nothing and for it's an easy escape for the criminal.

I am for it, but life in prison would suck a lot too, but I just feel that if you murdered someone you have no right to live.

Also, IMO Rape = Death Penelty.

It's hard to say. Sometimes I watch the news, and there's some tragic murder a criminal did, and I think they should get the same thing to happen to them. But, then there's also the other side, where it's perhaps a 'out of jail free card' if they get death sentance.

Put I'd prefer to not do anything but let their *** rot in a jail cell.

Get a rope!

For a life sentence, there is no reason to attempt rehabilitation. Why place the burden on the taxpayer to keep a killer alive if there is no chance of parole? Forget 'Do the crime, do the time'. I'd rather see 'Do the crime, get covered in lime'.

Rape is NOTHING compared to murder, Ted Bundy raped women but he got death sentence for killing.

I'd rather them stay in prison I don't see any point in killing as long as the criminals can't harm again.

Anti, I like to think we're evolving past murdering people. Stick them in prison for life.

Not so much pro death penalty but would prefer to see punishments fitting crimes.

Murder = Death penalty
Theft = Hands cut off

Might be a bit severe in cases, but hey, it would stop them doing it again :roll:

It all depends on what you did to deserve the death penalty if u robbed a bank, prison if u murdered someone, death

I lean towards no if there's no chance of release for 75+ years (a true life sentence). I like the ideas Brad mentioned above, however sadly it doesn't work like that here (here = Canada)...

Here you can murder someone when you're 22 get life, then get parole in 25 years. So out when you're 47, I don't agree with that. If life sentences were truly life (75-100 years) that would work. So I voted for it based on my perspective.

If it was someone close to me that was murdered I'd much rather see the offender get death. With our current system I would most likely wait until they got released and then kill them seeing as I'd only get a max of 25 years or so.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth ;)

What if the guy was innocent? I wouldn't want the Goverment to have the power of killing people, the more freedom you give up the more likely your society will become less free it's a vicious circle.
Hard labour for criminals should be the ONLY crime, this way the goverment could actually make some money or at least reduce their spending on jails because the inmates would be paying for their own housing and food with labour, this would mean (idealy) that more money could be spent in crime prevention programs and rehab so jails wouldn't be overcrowded with drug addicts who really haven't commited any major crimes.

im all for it, if they have 100% proof that the person did the crime (i know they dont a lot of the time though) because putting them in prison all their life is just a waist of tax dollers.if someone murders some one they NEED to be killed. that sends one hell of a message to everyone else dont it?

Gzpro
how the HELL does it cost 2m to kill someone? hell a box of bullets only a few bucks...

If they're forced to work they can contribute money back to society. A life of slavery is punishment enough and benefits society as a whole.
