Homework is the main reason why I dislike school. |

I had an ok time in school socially i guess, education wise..eh..i did it but i never enjoyed it. The work to me was always pointless, moment i stepped into secondary school the stuff i was learning was worthless. Always sat there thinking "what possibly reason would i have to know this?" and the reality is i didn't need most of it. I dunno, i think schools not for everyone and i think there should be more freedom and choice in what you learn. I spent 3 years skipping sports as much as i could in my school, I was a fit, active, healthy teenager who ate well and got plenty of exercise, i could run laps around most in my class and had no health problems. Yet the school seemed to think spending 2-3 hours a week playing football, a sport i despise and have no interest in was a good use of my time. No, sorry. I remember one year my mum got called in about my attendance because it was so low, thankfully she understood my idea of education wasn't sitting in a room reading the same sodding poem over and over just so i can memorize it for exams. As i said, some kids fly through school and are fine and that's great but it's really not for all, i really think an apprenticeship program should be opened up for younger ages, I would of been much happier learning a trade or something that would have come in handy when i was 13. |

Power to that, I'd rather have something like that here in the U.S. in the long run. But school is alright for me, really. Sure, when I get out there I'm not going to use 2/3rds of the stuff I learned because I'll either forget it, or never use it to make myself be successful. Math is rather important in most jobs (higher levels not so much), but science has its field, as does english and history. I only enjoy material if I want to learn it, so the majority of the things taught in high school are just a pain to get through. I'd rather be somewhere that's giving me experience I'll need for say .. a part time job, or the career I'm planning on. Guess waiting until you're older to make those decisions isn't a bad idea though .. and I thought I was gonna be a Navy SEAL ![]() This year however, I seem to be relating the knowledge in classes more and more to what's going on. As long as that's happening and I have friends to discuss it with, I don't have a problem with school. The people in my classes are alright (taking all honors, spanish programming & njrotc so dont encounter too many people that don't care), and I have a decent group of friends at lunch. As long as I can plan out the homework I'm gonna get pounded with these next few months, get over the SAT or ACT, and make some plans for college, I'll be fine ![]() The only thing that annoys me is the traffic getting to/from there - the people that act stupid on the road along the way. ![]() |

The only things you really need to know is what you learn in kindergarten and college. The second day of school another student in my Spanish class asked the teacher "why do we need to learn all this" The teacher replied "So you can go to college, and we are also teaching you how to learn and study for college." Stupidest answer ever in my opinion, you don't need to learn to learn, that would be redundant. The only class I somewhat enjoy is my American/world history class. Ive always enjoyed history so that gives me something to look forward to during the school day. Otherwise I despise it. Why should i have to sit in a room mainly full of people I hate for 6 hours and 30 minutes per day, then ride a bus home for half an hour with people i mainly dislike, then spend an hour to an hour and a half at home doing school work. Not to mention the hour and a half I have to spend getting ready for and going from my home to my school. that's almost all of my time spent awake, I also have to go to bed at a "reasonable time" so I'm not to tired for school. I think the majority of the education system is flawed. If you aren't going to use something in your career, why should you be forced to learn it for 10 or so years (most of the stuff they just repeat or go into slightly more detail). If I wanted to have a certain career, I should have to learn the things I needed, not that and the knowledge for 20 or so other careers. Many people also argue, "oh, well school is a social experience where you make friends". Not true. The majority of my friends I met outside of school through similar interests, such as sports, and we later found out we attend the same school. So to sum that all up, no I don't think it is OK. But the government has to spend money on something so I guess they'll shove useless information down our throats. ![]() |

I enjoy school. I enjoy going to see my friends everyday. Friends is what gets me to go to school in the first place ![]() I hate homework though. Its the reson why I dont get perfect grades D: I get perfect grades on my test, yet I don't do my homework very often. Yay for tests being 70% of grades. |

Hmm. I think school is okay. This year I'm nervous because I took 3 college level courses. [I'm in 11th grade] The only reason I took them is because colleges look at how many AP classes you take and it's getting harder and harder to get into college each year. I'm happy because I have friends in all my classes so far. So even though I'm taking a lot of hard classes at least I'll have my friends to suffer with XD Hmm But I would rather just take art classes. Oh man now that would be great. Another thing I really hate about school is that I have to wake up so early. 5:45am every day. I am not a morning person at all >_< |

I agree with Creepy and Al3x. I pretty much had the same experience before I started to be homeschooled. |

At the end of my final year at school I remember thinking "**** this year was awesome!" Especialy chooseing the lessons you want to go to just before the exams and sitting out on the field for the rest! I remember one lesson I couldn't be bothered to go to mine so I walked into a friends instead ![]() |

Try going to a strict Christian school, where they even pull people in during holidays, and have longer hours than every other school in the area. Then you'd understand why I despised the place. And yet... I know very well if I didn't go to that school, I'd probably end up like some monkey boy who needs thinking time just to spell his own name. So I hated it, but I'm strangely thankful for it. All except for the last few weeks where I actually had to sit in "isolation" in the naughty room. Bunch of *****. |
