Post subject:  "I'm not English"

Recently I've seen a post on RSBandB where a guy spells curiousity wrong and says "Sorry, I'm not English" afterwards.

Alright is this is a OVERUSED "phrase". Just because people are from the United Kingdom doesn't mean that they spell every word correctly and use top-of-the-line grammar and punctuation people.

So this is out to all English RSBandBers.

Do you spell EVERY word correctly? Not just you, do you notice your friends do it too?

I think what that guy meant was "Sorry, I don't know English very well"
The language, that is.

Er..yeah..i think he meant his English isn't very good.

American English and English are usually referred to as English, there practically the same thing so it makes sense.

Mass majority of English people don't even speak the language correctly, at least someone from 50 years ago would tell you that.

But it *is* our language and it is a valid excuse i suppose. It's the same as me saying "sorry my french was bad, I'm not french" Does that mean everyone in france is perfect? No..it just means It's not my language, nor my country so i don't know it to well.

Sorry everyone, I wasn't just ruling out this guy, it was every other person who has said that to me. He reminded me of all the people who have said it before. Sorry for any confusion. And every time the people said that they usually meant Brittish.

I try to spell every word correctly. Most of the time I do and there are only a small amount of words I have to double check. 8-[

I'm pretty sure the person is just trying to say that they're a foreigner, not a native speaker of English.

I dont speak English. I was born in Montreal(Quebec-Canada) This is maybe a Billingual country, But I first learned French, My parents dont speak English either. I guess I try to learn it perfectly. Of course I can speak and talk English but I'm not from USA,UK or an English Country. I make lot of typos, But I'm trying to be ''perfectly'' Billingual.

Me is many good at the English, me knows much things like grammar and orthography. Me studies in an english college and me are very good.

Please note the high level of sarcasm that this previous sentence contains. I'm not quite sure what is this thread about, was it about that comprehensible mistake made by Steven or about how good we are able to speak and write English? I don't mean to be offensive or anything though, don't misunderstand me.

*Announcing* I try to. I try to spell everything correctly, and if I don't, then it's my mistake, and I learn from my mistakes. Nobody is perfect, after all. Whether or not I speak the language makes no difference to spelling (it's mostly wording errors), but since I do, I do my best to do it and get better all the time.

*Takes a bow*

I actually had somewhat of a similar problem, I joined RSBANDB 4 months after I came to USA. If you look at some of my earlier posts, my spelling and punctuation weren't so good >.> After a while I started more attention to my spelling, English isn't a hard language to learn.
