Okay so I have recenty been very offended by my friends for then sending me a link to a video on youtube making fun on narcoleptic people.

If you do not know what narcolepsy is, it is a horrible disease in the brain that when the person gets exited, scared, or angry they pass out cold.

My cousin has narcolepsy and I just wanted to know if one of your family members or friends gets narcolepsy would you help them?

A friend or a family member with a mental disease can be sad, but if you get some friends or other family members to give them a motivation, it can help them fight it off.

I had a friend with Narcolepsy. We had a few jokes with her about it now and then, but she never really took offence to it.

I forgot to add that it's important to note that it's disputed as to whether or not people "get" Narcolepsy. Scientists have discovered the genes that cause it, but it's unsure if they're the main cause of it since various things can lead to it.

Either way, if you're questioning whether or not someone would help their friend/family member if he had the disease then I'm sure that everyone here is going to say yes. If said person has a sense of humour about the disease, then I think it's fine to joke about it sometimes. Either way, just because you joke about it doesn't mean you wouldn't help the person. If I were standing at a train platform and a person with Narcolepsy fell off of it and onto a track, I believe in my heart-of-hearts I would do my best to either help them or find someone who can.

Narcolepsy isn't a disease that's fatal unless someone falls asleep in a dangerous situation. For this reason, Naroleptics cannot drive or operate heavy machinery. If I had the disease, I'd honestly be glad that I didn't have anything worse (like AIDS). Plenty of people with Narcolepsy live happy and normal lives.
