Post subject:  Hybrid Cars?

Does anyone or anyone's parents own a hybrid car like a Prius? If yes, how is it? If no, would you get one? Why or why not?

And a question for hybrid owners: Can you recharge the batteries at home?

Hybrids have a solar plate that when the sun hits the plate it allows the car to go.

I would like to het a Hybrid, less damage for the earth. Global Warming is going to have a big affect, let's help our world.

Don't have one. Would I get one? Yes, but maybe in 5 or 10 years. I want them (car companies) to perfect them before I buy one.

Nor would I ever buy one. I'm much more interested in the performance side of motoring, as is my dad. So I guess that's the reason. You just don't get that with a hybrid.

I am 15 and I have been racing in amateur leagues since I was 12. I guess that opinion is just the way I have been brought up.

We don't have one, and I certainly wouldn't get one. Lots of power and speed = fun.

I think it's ignorant to believe that use of a crappy, "healthy" car will help the environment. Just because it doesn't -hurt- it, that doesn't mean it's getting any better. Global warming is happening and will continue regardless of whether you choose to drive at a maximum of 50mph or not.

well the hybrid was never intended to be a performance car it was designed to take somebody from point A to point B. and the honda civic hybrid was relatively fast and it was raining and it handled very well.

I don't think that's how they work... They have a system where it'll collect energy like from braking and store it into a battery. ;)

Ok the idea of the cars are nice, but people won't just send their other car to the junkyard and go and buy a hybrid. their gonna take still a few years before many people actually own one.

Yep, same with the radio, television (it was rare in the 50's), computer (it was expensive as hell and useful to very few people), and GPS (nearly all people who own a car also own one of these nowadays.).

when you press the break there is friction and that friction is converted into energy. also as when you go downhill you don't use gas therefore as the wheel turn it generates power.

the electric car from 1996 worked very well and the only reason it was a bust was oil and car companies killed it themselves.
