According to a report by GamePolitics, Thompson said he will be training his guns on the U.S. military in the new year as a result of its continued collaboration with the game industry. In a press release, Thompson said one of the results of this partnership is "the increasing number of commando-style assaults by young gamers," citing the recent killings in Omaha, Nebraska as evidence of his claim. Thompson also continues to claim, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the Virginia Tech killer was "an obsessive high school player of the military-themed CounterStrike." "What is increasingly clear is that the unholy alliance between the game industry and the DOD is teaching an an [sic] entire generation of kids that war is glamorous, cool, desirable, and consequence-free," Thompson said in his press release. "Believe it or not, there is actually a formal working relationship between the [DoD] and the game industry at the Institute for Creative Technologies [ICT] on the campus of the University of Southern California. U.S. Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma is its most unabashed and enthusiastic supporter." The best-known example of the U.S. military's foray into videogaming is America's Army, first released for the PC in 2002. While ostensibly a recruiting tool, the freely-available game has proven immensely popular with gamers, and has since seen numerous versions released for the PC and Xbox 360. Full Spectrum Warrior, also mentioned in the report, is not officially affiliated with the U.S. Army but was originally developed by Pandemic as a serious game training tool for the military. |

F***ing idiot. It is not video games that makes kids violent. It is not movies or music or books or anything. It is culture. Who they grow up with. People around them. Peers and parents and family. Bad parents make a bad kid. I play GTA:SA solely to kill and mame as many people in the most violent ways possible, with fire and knives and guns. I write and read some incredibly violent things. He's a bit naive to think that Video Games make people violent. Maybe he was deprived of them as a kid, or he sucks so badly at them now, he wants to get rid of them? Geh, moron. |

He's a **** idiot, his lawsuits and **** wont do any good just drive him into deep hell, and what the **** do i give none, i personally would send him a letter showing him a finger or something else,now I would claim it on games, because its the people who are violent not the games. |

The blame lies with the parents. Always has done, always will do. Ever heard of... taking away these violent video games from underaged children? Ever thought of 'not' buying GTA for your 13yr old? Ever thought, "Hey, maybe this game's rated 18+ for a reason!" Oh, obviously it's the games company's fault because they haven't yet taken into consideration incompetent parents will buy super-violent games for their 11yr old and then support morons like Jack Thompson. - I used to watch power rangers when I was idk.. very young, the first series. I used to play fight with my brother, mimicking moves. My father stopped me watching the show. He's a genius, I know. |
