Okay. So. I just got back from a band concert. My first one. Yeah.. Now, into the details: I play trumpet in my band, (I sit second, my band director hasn't tested me yet, but I sat first chair all last year.) Anyway, here's the song order: Power Rock ( We Will Rock You & Another One Bites the Dust by Queen) Jingle Jolly Christmas (Jingle Bells & Jolly Ol' St. Nicholas) Jolly Ol' St. Nick Big Beat Boogie (Usually just a warm up and a series of "C's..") Beethoven's Ninth ----- Sure, these songs are all very easy, but it was fun. Fun. --- Now I has a question: I play guitar, aswell as the trumpet. And I love them both. But in 7th grade, I get the offer to join Guitar Club instead of band. So. What should I do? Continue playing trumpet? Or play guitar? Thanks for your time. Keaton |

Man... I'd chose the guitar. Trumpets aren't that "attractive" with guys for girls. Guitars have allways been the best thing to do when it comes to instruments. It's really just up to you. |

Do what you have the most fun doing. Your dad isn't going to be mad or anything because you didn't do exactly what he did, he wants you to be happy. (Or should >_>) Quote: Trumpets aren't that "attractive" with guys for girls.
You want girls to want to date your guitar? ![]() |

I meant if they don't like you because of your instrument, but you change instruments and then they like you, they don't really like actually like you, they like your instrument. XD I have an Idea, how about you do both of them? Just go to the principal and reason with him. He might allow you to do both classes! |

Wouldn't it be possible to do guitar at school, and get your dad to teach you trumpet. If you let him teach you trumpet he will bond with you more and you'll make him feel good because you will be playing what he taught you. If you only want to learn one, then it depends on your music taste. If you like jazz, classical or orchestal music then stick with your hooter. If you prefer rock, metal, punk sort of stuff then stick with guitar. Its no good learning trumpet if you don't like people playing the trumpet to you. |

Playing guitar in band is really hard. I tried to get in for jazz band this year but my ex bandmate and this new person got in and stupid Mr. Brandin (band teacher) kicked me out. Probably cause Alex has more experiance in jazz band as well as the new person. Now my ex-class remembers me as "that hawt asian chick with the Ibanez RG" for awhile... ![]() |

I'm having a band concert on Wednesday, I play the tuba. ![]() I really do like playing music in front of groups, this one's in a school assembly which makes it even cooler. My dad played the trumpet too. He kind of wanted me to learn it, but he decided that I could decide which instrument I played, and he didn't care. If you really want to learn guitar I'm sure your dad will understand. However, I think having him teach you the trumpet while you learn to play guitar at school is a great idea. Again, just decide which one fits your style of music, and go with it. If you like the trumpet but don't think it's "popular", stick with what you like to do. I'm a tuba player (which isn't really considered a "popular" instrument ;D) and I like it, so I'm not going to change my instrument choice based on what other people think of it. You're in sixth grade, right? Lucky duck for being able to play in a band before that, I had to start in sixth grade. |
