Don't be shy. Make sure she's not in a relationship, and then try to get to know her. Start hanging out with her casually before you just ask her out.

All you got to do is be nice and help her or talk to her more often. and If you consider yourself ugly, don't. Like MQ said, its all about personality like me. I'm dating this girl, I like her looks and personality but other people think shes ugly but I say well forget you guys I like her. Sorry got off topic a little.
